I bought a mini screwdriver (the ity bity one that screws inside the corkscrew) for my Huntsman. It didn't originally come with one, so maybe that's why there's a problem. When the screwdriver is in the corkscrew the corkscrew doesn't close all the way. Is it because this model wasn't designed to have one or is it normal and like that on the models that come with it standard?

yep, it'll fit...i've got on on my huntsman, too. after i cleaned up the extra bits from the mold, it fit like a glove.

Got it! THanks guys. Ok, another question. I want more SAKs, I think I want the Spartan or Spartan Lite. The Huntsman seems like a good combo of tools, but it's a little thick. I think the Spartan may be perfect?
Also, have you seen the new SwissMemory? Looks quite useful. Victorinox certainly keeps up with modern tech innovations!
And...has anyone used the Swissflame? do you like it?
Oh hell, what is your absolute fav EDC SAK?

For me, the 84mm version of the Spartan (WITH that mini corkscrew screwdriver, of course!) offers the perfect pocketability-to-tools-needed-on-a-day-to-day-basis ratio! It's truly my EDC.

It's hard to go wrong with the Spartan. The tip of the can opener works pretty good on phillips heads. Even if you never use the corkscrew, that little screwdriver is a life saver if you wear glasses.

So true about that little screwdriver. But back to the corkscrew ..... some years ago, when I was choosing which SAK to buy to replace the Tinker I'd lost, I came to the realization that I'd much prefer to be stuck without a phillips head screwdriver than to risk having a nice bottle of wine (and a pretty lady to share it with), and have no way to open uncork it. THAT, my friends, would be an emergency! :D

Glad the screwdriver worked for you, it's a handy little fella.

As for my favorite everyday SAK, I would be torn between the Soldiers and the Explorer models. Both come in very handy.
For outdoors use, the Rucksak rules!

My EDC SAKs this week are the Vic Midnite MiniChamp II (in pocket) and the Vic CyberTool 41 (on belt). I love all of my SAKs, but I seem to carry these most, so they are my favorites.

Hi guys! I am absolutely new in the forums, so i am not even sure, if it is the right place to ask. Got a Victorinox Climber, bought a mini screwdriver for that which goes to the corkscrew. My gripe is that the screwdriver goes into the corkscrew with the metal thing facing to the knife handle(carry position). I am unable to put it in with the metal piece facing outside. Wanted to use the handel as a leverage for the mini screwdriver, but I could not. I have to pinch it between the fingers and hold it. Is that the only way how it can be used? Thanks.

Yes, that screw driver really should have been called an emergency eye glass repair tool. it's not really useful for anything else.

Yes, I learnt the same today from a Victorinox shopkeeper. Thought it was supposed to be used as a "normal" tool, what comes with the knife. Now, I know that it is a "hand tool" only. Thank you for the info.

Almost 20 years ago, I bought a minidriver for my Swisschamp (they didn't come standard then), one for my wife's Climber and an extra for the inevitable loss. From that time to this, even though we both wear glasses, I haven't used any of the screwdrivers even once. OTOH, on the rare occasions I have used a SAK corkscrew, I had to go through the nuisance of removing the tiny driver and finding a safe place to put it before pulling the cork. I wish the "emergency eyeglass repair tool" really were useful for something else. :(

I have a Spartan ii and bought the mini screwdriver for the corkscrew. (Actually, it was the other way around. I wanted the little screwdriver so I bought the Spartan ii to house it.) That little screwdriver is great for tightening the screws on the bottom of Mac laptops. There's around 300 holding the bottom plate of the laptop on, slight exaggeration, and they always want to work themselves loose. It's a good all around size when working on any model laptop and has saved me a couple times when I didn't have a 'real' screwdriver. It's better to have it and not need it then really need it and be without. I really like the Spartan model. I have an Explorer, a Tinker, and a Cadet, and honestly the inexpensive Spartan ii is my favorite. Just the right tools in the right package. It's a real winner.

If I understand your question, you want to screw the screwdriver onto the corkscrew with the business end poking out. Then use the whole knife as a T shaped screwdriver handle.

I can’t see it working. I’ve never used that driver on screws that were tight enough to need such a mechanical advantage.

Mounted as you describe, if you tighten a screw you drive the handle spiral deeper into the corkscrew. If you loosen a screw you turn it out of the corkscrew. How is either useful?

That's one of the reasons I carry a Wenger Pocket tool chest in my change pocket. It has a dedicated eye glass screwdriver that I think is better then the Vic driver in the CS. It's about the only Wenger I swear by and always accompanies what ever Vic I'm carrying.

The little screwdriver won't fit the corkscrew on my Vic Safari and Vic Trooper models, but fits my Huntsman, Climber, and 111mm models.
