Which do you prefer? In my experience with them, I like Vic. better, but I still like and buy Wengers.

In handling both, it feels like Vic has better quality control and fit&finish. It should be brought to mind though that the only Wengers I have handled are the ones before Victorinox took over.

I also prefer the can opener on Victorinox SAK because they have the tip that can be used as a screwdriver as well.

The one thing that Wenger has over Victorinox is the springless scissor design. I prefer Wenger scissors over the Victorinox ones.

I always preferred Wenger, partly becuase I'm a bit eccentric and always wan't to go against the mainstream, and everyone usually has Victorinox, so it's gotta be the less common Wenger for me!:) Seriously though, I much prefer the Wenger can opener, the Victorinox one can be a nuissance in my experience. I also much prefer the leaf/spear point blade shape on the "main" blade of the Wengers compared the the Victorinox blade design. Unlike the guy above I prefer the Victorinox scissor to the Wenger one actually! The Victorinox knives are slightly larger, the Wenger is very compact and neat. The blade is a bit thin on the Wengers though, the Victorinox is slightly more robust it seems. A cross of both would probably be best, but overall I prefer Wenger.

i seem to remember reading that victorinox bought wenger but i could be wrong. anyway i've always liked the vics much better, especially the alox scaled models. saks are great knives for the money. later, ahgar

Funny, I always liked the Vic can opener much better.

I think the Wenger Esquire is a better overall knife than it's Vic counterpart, the Classic. Only slightly larger, better file, better scissors.

One thing about some Wenger's I also like, at least on mine (a Tinker-like model with a nail file/cleaner instead of a small blade). The bottle opener/screwdriver has a sort of "auto locking" feature. Pressing into the screwdriver engages a locking mechanism to keep it from folding when in use. God knows I could have used this feature on my Vic once or twice.

The Highlander is like a Tinker except it has a nail file in place of the little blade. That's the tool combo I was looking for. If Vic offered the same thing I'd have one of each.

I prefer my Wenger TCP to any SAK I've handled. It has a locking blade with a shape I prefer over vics. Semi-locking screwdrivers. The scissors seem nicer to me. The pliers are slip-joint. And it seems to have just about every other tool I'd want in an SAK (except a pen). When I first got it, I found it too large to get a good grip on, but after removing the compass layer, it fits my hand (and my knife pocket) pretty well.

They are both good knives in my experiance! You only need to decide which features work best for you! I have a half dozen of each & cannot really see a Big difference!

I have both. I prefer Victorinox, based on quality. The backsprings are better, and the tool is overall sturdier. I also prefer the Vic inlayed scales.

the nail file is handy, locking screwdriver too, .....wenger...but i like em both.

Hey Guys..

Personally I like Vic better...

The majority of SAKs I own are Vic...

If size does matter than you've got an issue. Because Wenger's are naturally built shorter in length than the standard sized Victorinox SAK.
I could be wrong, but it has also been MHO that Victorinox blade tools are made of Stainless Steel with a higher percentage of carbon than Wenger's; and heat treated with a higher level of rockwell hardness than a standard Wenger product. Best part of Wenger's line of SAKs is the innovative French flair for styling (ie built-in spring seen in it's sissors/pliers amongst others); versus the high grade Victorinox products built with dependable German efficiency. At first glance both are SAKs of the same red blood, but they bare different blood types kinda like cousins with individually different characteristics rather than twin brothers born in the same motherland.

Vics, but I own some Wengers. I have a Wenger Hiker that is nice.

I like them both, and they both have been around for a very long time...so they must be doing something right.

Overall, I prefer the Vics.
For whatever reason I can get my Vics sharper than my Wengers.

Not a Ltwt SAK

Yeah, I thought Victorinox owned Wegner too? And that Wegner was their "affordable" line since the knives were cheaper...? Maybe Im wrong...?
