Victorinox or Wenger

I decided early on that I preferred Wenger based on a single knife: the Standard Issue. Of course, that was very foolish basis, as the Standard Issue is identical to the Vic Soldier in almost every way, thus, they do not represent their respective companies' unique styles.

Now, having played with both extensively, I prefer Victorinox. My Wenger Standard Issue still gets the most pocket time, though.

I could be wrong, but it has also been MHO that Victorinox blade tools are made of Stainless Steel with a higher percentage of carbon than Wenger's; and heat treated with a higher level of rockwell hardness than a standard Wenger product.

Ah HAH!!! I believe that must be what I've seemed to notice. I like the Wenger Esquire for it's size advantage over the Vic Classic, but the Classic takes and holds a better edge.

For me.

I'd like to have my Wenger serrated scissors on a Victorinox Swiss Tool. Now that would be the end all to scissors. My Wenger scissors on my SAK by them has seen three Micras come and go, and probably as many Vics too over the years and yet it still keeps cutting and cutting and cutting everything from stray hairs I miss when shaving to credit cards when they expire. Other than the scissors on the Wenger I would probably choose the Vic most everytime.

I like the Vic Officer. I know i got a quality knife in my hand when i use a Vic.

Show me a Benchmade with blade geometry effective as a Victorinox in cutting open a cardboard box and I might consider that.

I own and use both. They each make durable, long-lasting tools. I like the strighter blade shape of the Victorinox cutting blades better and the small flathead driver they fit onto their can opener. Vics combo tool is nice too. Wenger's unique locking screwdriver mechanism works well. I think I'd still rather have the Vic screwdriver that snaps open halfway to facilitate better leverage. Wenger has better scissors, but I rarely use scissors anyways so a Classic works there for me. They're pretty even, but overall I prefer Vic. I'm a sucker for Alox and the backsprings have more snap. If either puts out a good design or tool combination though, I'll buy it.

In addition to the scissors and locking screwdriver, another feature that I really like found on a few Wengers is the Packlock or Securite'. This is a nice extra that doesn't interfere with either the use or carry. Unfortunately, it is relatively unusual to find one.

If at last we were to have a SAK with real knife character to it, I guess Wenger would be more likely to do it (I'm aware they belong to V-x anyway).
I'm not against all the useful gadgets on the SAK, it's just that the knife blades so far have been unconvincing, to say the least, and that's coupled to highly slippery handles.
How about a V-10 damascus knife blade version and micarta handles?
Now that would be an EDC.
