Victorinox or Wenger

Victorinox was the first, and they're better quality than Wengers. They eventually came to the agreement that one company would call themselves "the original SAK," and the other would call themselves "the genuine SAK." Victorinox later bought Wenger, and they seem to be treating them as their low end line now. Victorinox makes both better knives and better watches.

I personally wouldn't buy Wenger because they're not all that much cheaper, despite the lower quality.

I am going to call BS on that quality difference. I own both, use both and the quality is the same. Now, if you can back your statement up with some proof...

money to be made with both names, even though they are practically the same. I prefer Wengers scissors and i like the victorinox can opener more. frankly its all preference.

I own both and mostly carry alox Victorinox SAKs. I like the Victorinox can opener and I also like it that there's a small screw driver on top of the can opener.

Wenger has great models too and I really like their design of scissors. They also do a good job on improving the handles. Check out the RangerGrip 61 for example. Also the Security line is worth looking at. Those are basically traditional models which have a locking main blade.

victorinox bought wenger when they go bankrupt to prevent the chinese take over the brand and making them overseas...

they both build really good and work great... but as personal preference, i choose victorinox.

True. First thing I did with my SI was lose the bail. ;). I don't put any type of lanyard on pocket knives so I had no use for the bail and don't miss it at all.

Agreed. I just got a wenger and vic soldier model before they're all gone. First day I had my wenger, the bail got stuck inbetween the blade and handle and I got a nice chip in the blade; needless to say the bail came off after that...it moves around too freely, it should be tighter.

Smooth vs serrared aside, the spring design of Wenger's scissors is far, far superior to the flimsy one V'nox uses. Apart from that, Victorinox is better than Wenger, IMO.

Maybe it was the serrated thing that got me. Trimming a mustache with a pair of apparently serrated scissors = pain. :D

Small difference, but Victorinox is usually better, particularly with their scissors. I might be biased, though, because of both companies' watches. In that case, Vic has the clear advantage; they were even building their watches in the Breitling factory for some time.
