Just a lovely knife.
Disappears in the pocket, solid as a rock

I prefer the Farmer to the Pioneer. I believe the only difference to be the Farmer also has a saw, which I like to have just in case. The Cadet and Farmer are my only SAKs tho.

Great knife, doesn't need a clip since you can't open it with one hand. The Con is the same as with all Victorinox, soft steel and small blade. Oh also, no lock. I carried one exclusively for 8 years. It was my "good" knife. A Puma lock back with a big blade kicked it out of the pocket :)

Doesn't need a lock for the majority of uses and follow knife handling rules.;)

What? I don't get it.

I use a clip to keep my knife separate from all the other junk in my pocket. Not so I can open my knife with one hand.

It's great EDC knife, smooth, solid, easy to carry. Only think I kind of prefer in the ordinary SAK's is the thinner blade.

It is my main edc, any other knife gets swapped every now and then. The 2016 edition alleviates the blade steel issue of normal Saks, I do have a standard version pioneer x for travels etc though.

Wish there was a reliable source for sak blade replacements.

I would volunteer to take Donald trumps spot in hell before buying a pioneer with scissors. Standard alox is a handsome and useful tool though.

Feel free to ;) I love my sak scissors.

I love the pocket clips! I want one!
A farmer with scissors and a pocket clip would be amazing!

Are you saying that you want a Farmer with scissors in addition to the saw? If you mean swapping one for the other, that is precisely what the Pioneer X gives you. All that remains is to add a pocket-clip.

While some don't seem to see the use of the Pioneer X scissors, I've used the same scissors on my Huntsman to: clip articles and coupons, snip plastic ties and tags, open clamshell packages and mail, harvest herbs and greens, prune ivy and small bushes, remove loose threads on shirts and pants, open soup and freeze-dried food packets, cut paracord and fishing line, trim fingernails, make butterfly sutures and wound dressings, and roach a horse's mane or trim their forelocks, bridle paths, manes, and tails. And that's just off the top of my head . . .

I have a couple of standard Pioneers, a Farmer, and a Pioneer X. I prefer the Pioneer X over the Farmer for normal everyday uses, as I have more use in daily life for the scissors than for a saw. If I were going to the outdoors, I would probably prefer the Farmer.

As far as the basic Pioneer, it really is a fabulous knife. Slim and light, and for me, every tool gets used for something quite often. One of the best pocketknives out there, regardless of cost.

I will confess, though, that I carry my cellidor-handled Spartan more than any versions of the Pioneer, because I carry my eyeglass screwdriver in the corkscrew. I also use the corkscrew for untying stubborn knots.

I own a Spartan for the very same reasons but don't normally carry it except when traveling.

As for your eyeglasses, take them in to your local optician for a "tune up" once a year. Any certified optician worth their salt should be able to have you in and out of the office in less than five minutes. My office recommends tune ups every four to six months.

The stubby little sheepfoot on the electrician is more useful to me than the can opener. I prefer the scissors on a Micra, which is always with me, along with a P-38 on my key ring.
