Victorinox Quality Situation

YES, you may still order a Vic SAK sight unseen. I'd rather order a SAK than any other brand of knife or multitool, sight unsee or otherwise. SB was a prima Dona and con man who used Victorinox for his own gains, and Vic got tired of dealing with him. I always thought that buying a SB SAK was as senseless as buying a Moore maker Case knife.

But then I was always a minimalist, and as the years went by, I got more and more pragmatic, which is why I'm not hanging around the forums much these days. The whole knife thing has worn out much it's welcome to me, so I'm a bit jaded these days.

Hmmm ... sounds like Swiss Bianco is wading in dangerous waters.

Spreading false rumors of "declining quality" over "social media" could be seen as Obstruction of Business/Business Interferance, slander, and defamation.
Swiss Bianco is opening itself to huge damage claims in court, should Victorinox decide to sue.

Last time I visited the SB website, I didn't see ANY of his custom made scales available. Come to that, I have not seenthose for two years. Did they drop them?
Replacement factory Celledor scales, along with replacement toothpicks, and tweezers in limited colors, are/were about it.

Perhaps VIC is cutting him (and others) off replacement scales, and are no longer covering replacment scales not installed at/by VIC under warranty anymore?

Another possibility: VIC has decided ANY modification - scales; blade swaps/deletions, etc. will void the warrantee?
Most manufacturers have that policy.
Example: I know there is a very nice CAD machine "drop-in" spring holder/spacer available for the Buck 110 and 112 with an integral machined lanyard/fob tab. Installing it voids Buck's Lifetime Warranty, and disqualifies the knife for their SPA service.

This may also be a trademark thing. Vitalliileather on Etsy/FleaBay used to sell keychain sheaths for 58mm models that had an embossed Vic logo. Those embossed sheaths appear to have disappeared, and his sheaths are now unmarked.

Good point.
Trademark infringement is yet another expensive "oops".

Yup! Used to know a woman who years later lost her entire online business after a cease-and-desist from a major camera manufacturer for selling counterfeit accessories. Couldn't have happened to a more evil bitch.

This thread has run its course...(twice)
