Victorinox Questions

The wirestripper part of the sheepfoot blade is a chisel grind, the other part is sabre grind(?).

I like the sheepfoot blade, but prefer the can opener, since I use that thing a lot. If I need to open a can at home or when camping, the can opener on my SAK does the job.

good to know...i'm assuming (based on majority) the chisel grind part is ground for use by righties.

I'm just gonna say that the Vic Soldier (and Pioneer) are the perfect EDC knife. I carry the Soldier because it has history/class. The Pioneer is the same knife, but with a keyring (?), civilian emblem/shield, and it's available in different colors. I'm 41, and have carried many, many knives. I rarely carry a locking "tactical folder" anymore. I love the Soldier. Thicker blade than plastic-scaled 91mm SAKs. All the tools are useful. The awl is a wonder to itself, sharp enough to use as a utility blade, scraper, drill, punch, etc. No, I don't carry the whole bottle of cologne.

Same here. I do still have a few tactical folders left (Kershaw Skyline and Byrd Cara Cara), but I don't carry them very often anymore. SAKs and other traditional knives are what I carry most. Currently it's the Victorinox Farmer that gets most pocket time.

That's also the reason why you see me posting mainly in threads on SAKs, Mora's and other traditional knives.

The regular Pioneer has two layers and more tools and is pretty easy to find in blue, red, black and silver.

Where are you finding Victerinox Alox in anything other than silver? I can't find anything in blue or red.

Thanks.

edit: misread sorry

edit2: if you type "red pioneer alox" into google's shoping results, a few come up. Blue doesn't work, though.

thanks for the input...still torn between the pioneer/soldier and the electrician...but will make some decision eventually ha.

Ebay is a pretty easy place to look. A google search will produce good results too. Red and black are still pretty easy to find but blue is getting pretty hard.

If you don't mind ordering a knife from overseas they're a little easier to find. It seems that alot of the rare colors were not released in the States.

Sign up to the Swissbianco newsletter too or just send him an email. He's always getting crazy colors specially made.
