This new model caught my eye when I was in my favourite camping store the other day. I'm definitely thinking top of Xmas list right now...

Anybody have any thoughts on it? Its got the one-hand opener main blade, a large saw blade (which is cool) another curved serrated blade with a blunt point (for seat belts I would imagine), a bottle opener and can opener, philips screwdriver and punch, the standard toothpick/tweezers and a nice new feature - a glass breaker. Its also a funky lemon yellow colour, presumably so you can locate it easily in the dark.

It was voted Knife of the Year by somebody FWIW. I already have a Swiss Champ, but I've been interested in getting one of the larger Victorinox's, mostly for the XL saw blade. The glass breaker is a cool feature though, otherwise the One-hand Trekker is another option.

I have one, it glows in the dark :). I keep it in my car, I hope that I'll never need it :D

I think that saw blade is specialized for sawing out a glass window. You're better off with the One-hand Trekker for a regular saw. But the rescue is a good-looking knife overall.

You can now get a few of the Vics with those glow in the dark scales.

Hmmm..... I must look into that, as the one thing I would like is a larger (wood) saw blade.

Damn, its just so sexy! :D

About 2-3 months ago someone posted here a video of the Rescue Tool in action. It showed how the tool cuts out windshield glass, how to break glass with it and how to cut seatbelts. At the end, the rescue actor uses the bottle opener to open his beer. It was pretty cool to watch.

Better and better....

Has anyone used the saw on wood? If it can cut automotive glass surely it can cut wood./

Seems that ripping up glass could be done with something that isn't designed to "cut" like a wood saw. BUT, I'm interesting in finding this out as well.

I bought ons about six months ago. I really have not given it a test yet but its a solid good looking tool.
