Victorinox Spirit Questions

I EDC a SwissTool Spirit. I carried a Gen 1 Wave for a long time. I then moved up to the Charge. I loved the blade deployment and the pliers on the charge, but the tools were useless. I think LM needs to make a high quality tool (Wave/Charge), with the simple, functional screwdrivers of the Fuse/Blast.

Anyway, since then I've upgraded to a Swisstool Spirit. I really like it. It's only weakness in my opinion is the blade. I EDC it though with a CRK Sebenza, so the blades not that important to me.

Thanks Guys! I appreciate all the input,I'll likely buy a Swisstool after I evaluate the Spirit.

I also was a long time old Wave user. I impulsively got a Surge, but the bulk was too much for me and the stubby drivers were useless. I go trid of the Surge and went with the Spirit. Often I pair it with a dedicated knife of some kind, lately one of several traditional slipjoints. The old Wave stays in my work bag.

JoeBW-One of the reasons I stopped looking at the Leatherman line was knowing the people that make the heads for their pliers moved the factory to Mexico. I can't morally support such a thing.

So you want a European product instead?

i owned a spirit,swisstool X and leatherman wave.

personally, prefered the spirit over the swisstool, mainly due to its smaller size.i left my wave in the drawer.

both swisstool and spirit are excellent in built quality. i have yet to try cutting barb wire but i think should not be a problem. i cut thru various thickness of cables with no problem but i have no idea how many AWG though. my friend used the spirit for his computer troubleshooting, network cabling, punching hole thru plaster ceiling with the plier head and no problem so far.

i however saw thru a roughly 6inches (diameter) tree branch (fresh and not rotten one) with my swisstool X and no problem at all. so i believed the spirit should perform on the same level if not better.

i love the rotating ratchet that came together with my spirit plus.nice add-on.

As far as I know the Swiss have no interest in invading the U.S. or in enslaving us. Cannot say the same for the chinese or the mexicans.
You may be wrong - at least one Swiss (Roger Remund, a.k.a. SwissBianco, or +B) is planning to do just that! :D

Sorry, there's no such thing as paranoid-free cutlery.

I, for one, welcome our Chinese and Mexican overlords. As long as their goods and services remain exceptional value.

How curious,I'm still waiting for them to produce anything of value.

I'm with TWBryan on his stand against the cheap Cina imports and the moving of our manufacturing to places like Mexico. If all the work is moving to those places why are all the wetbacks fleeing here? Seems to me to be aided by the govt's inept ability and desire to do anything about it. He's not paranoid, just Patriotic, and I stand right next to him waving my own American flag made in the USA!

A Vic' Spirit will do you fine as a multitool, I used mine the past year with no issues. It's a tool that can handle many jobs within reason; if you know you need to do a lot of cutting grab a real knife IME.
