Victorinox SwissTool Spirit Review

question about the spirit:

unlike the original, does the cast parts that lock the tool is stainless steel too?
becos i heard it is not.

also, how is it scissor operate?where is the spring???i can't see it yet....

any help ?

The scissors design on the Spirit is an all-new one. Victorinox has replaced the little strip spring with a bending beam design which looks rather robust. Time will tell. It will be interesting to see whether Victorinox incorporates this spring into all their other knives containing scissors.

As to the "funny" blade that some seem concerned about, I suggest that you look at mariners knives and you'll see the roots. A marnier's knife has to point to avoid self-inflicted wounds resulting from rolling, wet decks. Perhaps Victorinox thought this was a good approach on a multi-tool?

All-in-all, I very much like the Spirit. If you haven't handled one, give it a try.

Joe :)

I still find it strange that the Swiss Tool Spirit have no regular straight blade. How are you going to stab or punch a hole in an object with that serrated knife?

Knife blades as such are still considered "evil" by the sheeple. There are political movements all over the place, especially in the UK, to ban blades outright. This is Victorinox's way of trying to stay ahead of the game and to stay in business.
