Victorinox Swisstool

Hoppe's has several oils. If it's one of the "Lubricating" oils, you're fine.

I like Break-Free CLP, you can pick up a small spray can at walmart, but I buy the large bottle with spritzer top from midwayusa.

Yupp, it's the lubricating oil. Orange bottle. Use it for my gun.

Thanks for the pics Powernoodle.....I've had the original for a number of years and carry it every day. At 10.5 ounces it is heavy but on the belt it is no big deal. Right next to it in my back pocket is a Lone Wolf T2 Ranger folder......love that S30V, and usually use that everyday too!! I've learned to abuse the Vitorinox and it keeps on going. Was looking at newer tools in a retail store last fall and kept relating to the clerk how all those other brands missed some form or function compared to the Swisstool. A real handy feature that he didn't undertand is how you can fold the handles out to use a screwdriver bit and have a 81/2 inch handled driver that you can really 'lean on' because it's twice as thick in the middle where they nest together. And you can position the handles at 90 degrees from each other and really torque things down with the extra leverage. I lost an original Leatherman years ago, and in the long run it was the best thing that could have happened. A happy Swisstool owner/user!

I'm afraid to use a screwdriver at 90 degrees. Im afraid ill twist something or bend it (on the swisstool). My fav multitool besides the swisstool is the bucktool (i owned it, the handles flipped up instead of out). Wish i could find another one id never pick up the swisstool again.

you know the funny thing for me was that I had both tools and the one I carried the most was the swisstool as opposed to the spirit because (and I love lite tools) of the sheath's!
The spirit came with the big square leather like (beauty) sheath with bit kit. The Swisstool just came with a very nice low profile nylon (excellent) sheath. Had the spirit come with a decent sheath (no fault of the tool itself) I would have probably carried it more but ended up trading it off and the guy who got it just loved the ratchet/bit kit rather than the tool.
But anyhow both are great tools, almost jewel like in appearance and function. Bit drivers sometimes could be a bit slippery in screwheads 'cause of their chrome but it was minor. I love my big Swiss and probably will be a keeper forever. Love having the two blades both of which are a decent size and one being lightly scalloped means having sharp all the time.

Ive actually managed to kind of dent the phillips screw driver blades a little, not distort just went. I dunno how... and ended up slipping a screw with the larger flat head and putting a knick in the side on the top of it. I wish the sheath was like my Buck X-Tract. I'd carry if everyday if it was (horizontal instead of vertical. I'm kind of toying with the idea of buying an extra sheath and converting it.

I carry my Swisstool in a Blackhawk mag pouch , the pouch can be carried either vertically or horizontally .

Much better quality than the stock pouch .

Mm, I'm carrying my Spirit for the first time today, and the vertical carry sheath is starting to bug my side a bit. I like the sheath, I think it's quite handsome, but the lack of horizontal carry is a pain :(

Which mag pouch do you use? Is it a snug fit, or does it wiggle around some?

Victorinox makes both leather (#33270) and nylon (#33271) sheaths for the Spirit with swivel clips for either horizontal or vertical carry. No pic on the US site, but the Swiss site has some.

Here you go. This vendor has both the nylon and the brown leather versions. Keep in mind that neither of the pictures appear to be correct, but the part numbers are right. I have a swivel pouch coming from this vendor, for my Swisschamp.

Very nice very nice. My swisstool has been on my side a lot lately and i absolutely love it. I put all my trust in it. I actually left it in my tacklebox at a friends house yesterday along with my frosts knife i keep in there. Ended up going crazy with worry as to what one of his (not so smart) friend might do if he poked around in it (hes also nosey) so i ended up getting my fishing box back lol. Well anyways heres a story. Ok, so I hooked a trout on a rapala lure (my favorite is one of the floaters with the bright green tiger stripe, the medium sized one) and the hooks were in the mouth/nose and one happened to get inside the eye socket so i flipped open the swisstool and was more focused on getting the hook out of its eye because i let the first fish of the season go no matter what, just a tradition. Anyways i ended up pulling the hook out of its mouth so i could freely maneuver the lure as to get the hook out with the least amount of damage. My tacklebox was about 10 yards away at the spot i was at before with my other fishing pliers. so then when the fish was set (unharmed thankfully) i threw the swisstool in the dirt/sand more so concerned about keeping the fish alive as trout are very delicate fish when it comes to stress/injuries and let the fish go. My girlfriend comes walking over with my swisstool and i go did i throw that in the dirt?! because i never treat my knives like that. she goes mmmmhmmmmm and i looked at it, no dirt stuck to the nickle coating and a few swishes in the water and it was cleaned of blood. I later cleaned it off with noxon metal polish and relubed everything with hoppes lubricating oil. Good as new, maybe even a bit better. Sharpened up the knives and chisel because i've also used those and its perfect. Now about this sheath... Oh, usually when i go fishing i bring my super tinker but i've retired that. The swisstool is the only one i'll bring with me from now on.

Interesting. I have used the original pouch that came with my Original Swiss Tool since getting it and currently use it for the new RS model I picked up not long ago because its still fine and I thought I'd just save the new one that came with the RS for when I need it. Do you have a link to one of these BlackHawk mag pouches you are using? BlackHawk makes several different ones both for double stack, single stack and various calibers as well as various colors.
Thanks
