Victorinox Venture fixed blade

I guess the point of these destructive tests is to show how weak or strong a knife is?

The point is to get clicks.

But yeah, I would never baton with something like this which is basically a kitchen/camp knife. But I do want one.

Excellent sheath upgrade, sir.

The protruding tang looks uncomfortable to hold in some positions. It reminds me of the lanyard holes on the alox models.

I guess it depends on how large your hands are as to where that tang will contact you, my medium/large hands I don't find a position that it feels uncomfortable. But as my old doctor use to tell me when I say 'it hurts when I do this...' he invariably would reply '...don't do that...'

Very reasonable price for what you get. I spent more than that on flowers for my wife for no reason other than I love her, and they’ll be gone in four or five days no matter what she does for them. Value is where you find it 😘

Gary, love your improvement on the sheath 👍

Next time buy her a new knife because you love her, it will last longer and if she doesn’t use or like it, then you get a new toy and some good will.

My wife has less than no interest in knives, so your little ploy would garner no good will, probably quite the opposite. A knife for her, she would call wasted money, flowers, not so much. Try it, you might be surprised :)

Well just got it in. First impressions: nice grind with finer grit nice n shiny, the drop point is not very pointy, the spine seems to taper upwards out of line with handle, I like the handle, doesn’t snap into sheath very secure but the rubber retention ring seems to work. I’m taking it backpacking with me this week I’ll see how it does with fire n food prep and hopefully gutting fish.

Looking forward to a report, especially on the sheath. This looks like it could be a good knife for my purposes, but the sheath is the main thing keeping me on the fence.

Upon further review and some field use, Still kinda like the knife. I didn’t have any issues with the sheath but that doesn’t mean I like it. The main problem and kinda deal breaker is how blunt the knife tip is. Not much of a point on this knife.

Clipped it now it’s nice and pointy.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but does anyone know of a good kydex sheath for this knife? I have it and like it but the current sheath design lacks the ability to easily attach to molle. Found it a useful knife for butchering a few deer as well and slicing apples, which is my main use case :)

I just did a quick google search. And they are definitely out there.
