Victorinox Wish List

In the remotest chance that Victorinox reads these forums, perhaps we can start a wish list of ideas for new patterns, or how to improve existing models. Post your ideas, and let's see where it goes.

Here's mine:

1. Replace rivets on the Alox line with torx screws.

2. I love the idea of the Aloc Minichamp, but find it too small for my use; perhaps a Alox Minichamp Plus...same tools, just 91mm to 93mm closed.

3. Lastly, if torx screws become standard on Alox models, maybe the next step would be for end users to be able to easily add blades or tools to their knives, and Victorinox would supply the asked for tools/blades along with the required liners as accessories, and point out what you can and cannot do with a particular Alox model...size of the knife would ultimately determine what additional tools or blades you can add.

Have at it.

How about a alox mini champ minus?

Leave off the cuticle pusher/coke spoon and the orange peeler, and I could be more interested.

Both implements can be useful. The cuticle pusher/coke spoon (which is how I will think of it from now on ;)) actually fits some screw heads. I've used it successfully as a screwdriver and to break up clumps of hard sugar and the like. The orange peeler was originally designed as a cut and pick tool for medicos, intended to cut away the plastic seal on medicine bottles and pick out the cotton stuffings in them, but it works very well as an orange peeler. I have used it many times as such, although my wife can actually peel an orange faster using only her fingernails. But where's the fun in that?

AFAIK, the only authentic orange peeler is on the Executive.

Another that I would like to see, how about the 74mm executive but do away with the orange peeler and put in a scaled to size combo tool like is on the bantam?

I'd buy one!

84mm Alox Super Tinker
Alox Ranger with backside tools and philips driver instead of corkscrew

If I remember right Swissbianco made a variation of the mini champ with a couple less tools in it but cant remember what is was called or what tools they took out! :) It was between a Rambler and Mini Champ.

With the modern advantages of online shopping, I think it would be awesome if they started doing short runs of knives. I'm sure there is a unit number that makes economic sense for them, and gives a reasonable price point. Plus there could be a standing rotation of knives that get done 5000 at a time, and might only get done every few years. probably mostly retired models, but perhaps a more formal method for someone to order a custom tool-set. If you could order even 500 of a knife, I think it could be worth while for a retailer or forum to be able to set up the purchase. Obviously the price would have to be sane.

I agree, a mini swisstool would be king. Especially if they did a scissor based one. I'd be all over that.

I don't know that having torx screws on the alox models would necessarily make it "easy" to swap tools. Definitely easier. Perhaps also a jig and tool set would be needed to do it safely, since its my understanding that you need to pre-load the springs a bit during assembly. But that would be cool.

I was also trying to think up a way to put bigger tweezers into the larger knives. I'm thinking something like sliver-grippers into 111mms.
also something like the cybertool, but with a bit being held in the scale somehow.

Just got one of my wishes; ordered a Micro Farmer from SwissBianco. A Cadet with a small blade (no nail file) and a saw.

I would like to see a Cadet with scissors as well.

I wish Victorinox would build a 74mm Classic SD. I think it would be a winner.

I just wish Victorinox would let it's users order custom SAK. I mean they are all done my machine anyways. I'd say if Benchmade can do it with the Grip then why can't Vic do it with SAK? Just put up a general Alox pattern and let a web based app apply and minus different tool sets.

What do you mean "done" by machine? they are all hand assembled. I Heard that at one point in the early 00s that they tried it, but it was just too much of a hassle, and the cost was too great, and not enough customers to justify it. If you want, swiss-bianco does customs I think. Benchmade does one setup with only a few options. easy. Mix-matching a SAK is more complex. I would like it. But will they be able to sell two layer SAKs for 50+ bucks?

I'd like to see a 2-layer thick 84mm model with scissors. A Waiter with scissors would be perfect for me.
