Victorinox Wish List

What do you mean "done" by machine? they are all hand assembled. I Heard that at one point in the early 00s that they tried it, but it was just too much of a hassle, and the cost was too great, and not enough customers to justify it. If you want, swiss-bianco does customs I think. Benchmade does one setup with only a few options. easy. Mix-matching a SAK is more complex. I would like it. But will they be able to sell two layer SAKs for 50+ bucks?
I know of swissbianco but thanks for the tip.

I just watched a "How it's made" video on Victorinox knives. Looks like you where right. I didn't know that. I guess I just assumed they pumped them out via construction machines. With this new knowledge I can see why they don't do SFOs on an individual request per single SAK.

Nice to dream though...

EDIT: I suppose I would really like it if they put half stops on all the tools and knives as well. I guess that would be somewhat easier to do. Even for the price increase I am sure would follow it I would be game! :D

If you happen to catch Vic at a big blade show, they usually bring one of those assembly machines/parts and you can put together a Cellior SAK any way you like it....like picking your flavors on a layer cake.

Oh I am aware of that. Although I thought they normally just make Spartans for demonstration purposes. I didn't know you could have them make whatever you want....

It would be awesome. I recall hearing that to get them into the Alox knives it takes quite a bit of modifying to make them work. I guess re-designing the scissors to fit the larger alox handles isn't a high priority, but it would be good.

I'd be interested in a cross between an executive and a minichamp built on the executive's 74 mm frame. I don't have any particular tools in mind, I just think a 3 layer 74 mm would be great. Call it an executive champ.

I would like a Sak with the folowing.
Saw
Scissors
pliers
large blade
combo can/bottle opener.

awl and cork screw or phillips on the back side.

That would be a 4 layer SAK with the pliers/scissors/saw I do beleive.

the motorist has those, but its a 5 layer and discontinued. the craftsman is a similar one again 5 layer, but in production.

Oh, so many ideas!

- The Compact has a nail file on the carrying hook. Every SAK with a hook should have this.
- Make the Compact in 84mm!
- improve the cap lifter on the minichamp. It's one of the few SAK tools that is flat out bad at its job.
- remove the coke spoon from the minichamp, the ruler/ screwdriver. Add combine the ruler/ screwdriver with the nail file
- alox scissors.
- print a ruler on the saw blade of large knives that don't have a descaling tool
- Also, don't bother with the descaling tool.
- 84 mm plus scales
- many existing models would be improved by the option of a large blade/combo tool layer, instead of small blade/large blade AND cap lifter/ can opener

A SwissTool X with one-hand opening blade/scissors/saw/file and thumbstuds on all the screwdrivers.

I think we'll see some cool stuff as the wenger line sort of stabilizes. I think there will be lots of choice for guys who like the thinner, shorter knives, and hate the hook.

thanks so much. I didn't know about the motorist and it is thinner than the handyman. Going to see if I can find one
