Victorinox Wish List

I've never understood why a clip is important. I think a lanyard is more important on a knife than a clip. When I pocket carry my knife, I leave the lanyard hanging out of my pocket so that with a pull on the lanyard, I've deployed the knife. I also like a lanyard that I can slip my wrist through to secure the knife to my body. I use lanyards on all my SAKs that I carry. Pocket clips just bulky and get in the way.

Another thing that I hate on SAKs is a corkscrew. That's why instead of a Huntsman, I buy a Fieldmaster. They are the same knife except that a Fieldmaster has a phillips screwdriver instead of a corkscrew. I also like the Hiker instead of the Camper for the same reason.

Depends on the situation.

Right now I am wearing jeans with a Vic Red Alox Farmer in my left pocket attached to the belt loop with a paracord lanyard.

At my job in a cubefarm wearing khakis that would look odd & draw attention. Instead I have a Vic Red Compact with one of those clips in my left pocket.

Both ways are easy to obtain the knife with my right hand - important since I can't use my left. The paracord lanyard is nice because it also gives me a length of cordage & it's cheaper. The Dangler Clip is nice because it's a cool gadget & I don't have to unloop it from my belt loop.

As for Corkscrews, they do serve 1 purpose for me. With a corkscrew you can add the tiny screwdriver that works on eyeglasses.

In addition to holding the mini-screwdriver, corkscrews are also handy for loosening knots. I most often use a SAK in my bag when traveling, and the corkscrew comes in handy for its intended purpose, too. At home, there are better tools for the job.

I don't understand the corkscrew either. Are there that many folks that need to open a bottle with a cork? Does it have some other usage? I almost don't get the bottle opener use anymore either, except for beer, I guess.

There are plenty of models without the cork screw. The reason it is important is because there is only one way to open a bottle of wine. Sure, if you try really hard you can open a wine bottle with a nail, but it screws the cork up.

Most people dont realize that 2 buck chuck will get you way more hammered than a 3 dollar 40 OZ. Golden Gate wine is good stuff once in a while (on sale for 2 bucks!).

As for the bottle opener, that is my most used tool next to the knife. How else am I suposed to open my Coors light twist off? They are getting tighter these days.:D

In all honesty, I would like to see more models w/o the cork screw. Why they dont allow us to customize factory Victorinox knives -I dont know?
