VIDEO: Boss Jack in the Amazon Jungle

Awesome video man!!! Thanks for taking the time to put it together and share it with us all. Bloody awesome!

Man the wait on my order is taking SOOOO long.... (really it's only been a couple of days but you know how it is ;) )

I don't know if its because of the knife or just that the vid is so well put together. Love it either way. Thank you.

Awesome review & knife. I'm all about Jingle Green & the pumpkin G-10 looks really nice. How'd it do corrosion-wise in the humid jungle? I'm guessing it did really well. It'd be awesome to see after pics.

Actually there was NO rust. I did not need to sharpen it when I got home. The pictures of the knife next to the ruler and on the scale are after pics.

Thanks guys for the compliments on the video. If you look around on my youtube channel there is a 14 part series about the Amazon trip.

Great vid.. presented like a short film - well done!
(I've got the exact same BJCG, the best colour combo IMO)

It becomes very apparent very quickly why orange handles are great on knives. Towards the end of the day you're so exhausted that you make mistakes like setting the knife down and forgetting where you put it. Under those conditions, you're also going to abuse the knife by not using it correctly, torquing it too much etc. I actually BROKE a Mora out there using it to process firewood. Its one thing to use a knife around your back yard when you're well rested, paying attention and doing everything correctly. Its quite another to use one when you've been hacking through the jungle all day, spent 2 hours building a swamp bed and have been without food for 2 days. You MUST bring a sturdy knife.

The only thing I would change about the Boss Jack is to make a version with a shorter blade, but that would be a new knife. I think the blade thickness and the way it was ground was perfect. At 6.25" it was more knife than I needed as a backup to a machete. Carrying the extra bulk around doesn't really make a difference in most circumstances but down there you REALLY notice it. All that said, the Boss Jack performed flawlessly. I liked it enough to get Armoralleather to make me a custom left handed sheath when I got back.

Interesting observations, it sounds to me the new Basic 4 would be a perfect back up knife.

Good video too.

What other knives did you test?

Cool video but I think it's pronounced (Boo+sse) Or "Boo" combined with "Moose" without the M of course. :D
Great Video.

Awesome comments. Knife design becomes most critical and important when you are too weak, too tired, and too confused to use the knife properly. If it's done well it should be as safe as the knife can be while still being easy to use and understand when looking at it through the fog of exhaustion.
