Can someone have a look at this video too, please:

http://zbsword.com/en/test.asp

What I see is pretty dull knives on all three videos?

Yes they do test them, but on my humble opinion they all fail!
Good knife should do much better. Am I missing something?
To me this is pretty dull knife which can not whittle green wood (bamboo?), which does not byte into it etc...

What is point of this videos?

Thanks, Vassili.

Hah, yeah those are some dull knives and the tests.... the last video does attest that they can take some abuse, chopping into the trunk of a car and all. They wouldn't be the first company that doesn't know how to sharpen their knives, I'd still be interested in owning one.

it's a piss poor video, poor cutting technique and the swords look like they're dull. there's one scene where the cutter waves for the cameraman not to continue rolling...it's quite a lark actually.

don't know how the swords are in person tho'...

I own a couple of knives from Zubeng and those particular ones are very sharp indeed.
I have also seen some pretty poor knives from them too though.

I have seen and handled many of their knives and swords over the last couple of years.
To my (non-expert) eye the swords appear to be nice blades but there is defo. mixed feelings
about them here in Taiwan. I don't know how much of it is warranted but the knives often have
poor fit and finish but when cleaned up and sharpened they are actually great performers.

This knife was a gift and had a "hair wittling" edge on it when it was given to me.
I have tested it to some extent by cutting rope, cardboard and carving wood and
bamboo (green and dried). It has actually held up pretty well and being a single bevel
chisel grind its very easy to keep singing.

The other knife is the blade at the back between the axe and ER Kuk. This is a nice knife but
needs to be thicker/heavier IMO for it to be any sort of equal to the other knives in the pic.

master chen's forge is not a company. he is a craftsman he has a workroom or workshop.

also i would like to say that the condition of that knife in these tests is not in the same condition as when it left master chen hands.

This thread is nothing more than trolling by a troll who has an issue with me because I swatted him out of my test thread for disrespect.

I have nothing wrong with someone disliking a persons work. But when you dance around attacking his integrity you start raising my blood pressure..

So Nooz why don't you just come out and plainly say what you have wanted to say all along...

one might also mention that the edge on these knives are very different than Western Knives. THe blade does almost feel dull when viewing them as most western knives have a grind and then a additional grind to complete the edge. Zubeng knives become sharper with use. it is the nature of the sword steel used. After playing around with my zubeng knives they became incredibly sharp. Sharper than most customs I own..

I am no expert but with over 100K of custom knives in my collection I have never had steel like this...its quite amazing.

Noozh is just stirring the pot with this thread because he is butt hurt because I kicked him off my zubeng test thread for being disrespectful. Mr. Noozh if you dislike someones work that is o.k. but you are dancing around the area of disrespect...that is not right..

Nohz is a troll, and one with a poor grasp of the English language. Nothing worse than a troll thats almost impossible to understand :(

Haze, nice photo!

May I ask, What is the knife on the far left in the second picture?

Guys it's only trolling if he continually repeats the same nonsense over and over.............oh wait, nevermind. :foot:

:D

To answer the original question, it is hard to evaluate the specific knives being tested when we don't know much about them, and we don't know who is testing them and why.

But those of you taking this thread so completely off-topic, and making it an attack on the original poster, have lost sight of the forum you're in. There is nothing disrespectful about showing evaluations of knives in Knife Reviews and Testing.
.
Please remember you are not in Whine & Cheese. Talk about the knives, not each other. The original poster's motives are irrelevant, especially if you can't answer his question.

As far as having difficulties with the language, how hard would it really be to get the spelling of his username right? nozh2002. Not Nooz or Noozh or Nohz -- "nozh" is the Russian word for knife.

Keep your personal antipathies out of the knife discussion forums!

Very well said Esav. You guys are acting like corkies to paraphrase. I wasn't particulary impressed with the cutting tests either but don't know anything about the knives, so if someone could point me in the proper direction it would be appreciated. keepem sharp
