Here is a little video about how to build a shelter using a military issue poncho, a mosquito net and some paracord. Bug resistant and water resistant! What's not to love?

good job! :) any idea on what the different iterations of the GI poncho are? did you happen to weigh yours by chance?
 
I haven't weighed mine yet. It doesn't feel like it weighs much more than a pound. There is a date on it that says it was manufactured in 1959. I don't have any information on the different variations of the poncho, except what the guy at the military surplus store told me. He said that the current issue one isn't quite as robust. I honestly don't know if he has the right information, but his store is located right next to a base, hes ex military and hes got active duty guys coming in there all the time to buy replacements for stuff. The one I've got has 6 grommets and ripstop nylon.
