VIDEO: NMFBM Chopping a 2x4"

I did too. :D

I need to get some white wood. ;)

Then do another video........

Better be careful when you get some white wood Ank. Your NMFBM with that wicked edge you put on your blades is going to go through it like hot butter. :D

I will do it the same way I did before. ;)

The difference is it won't take as long...

I am going to get some just to show the difference in what they chop and what I have been chopping. ;)

Just to prove a point....

I did some clips with an FFBM a while back using standard 2x4s from the local Home Depot.

Holding it up like i did usually just resulted in the 2x4 breaking in half. Fun though. Keep up the good work. :)

Thanks man. :D

Yeah it broke them easy. :)

As we all know you love the NMFBM and I was thinking if you're going to be feeding it 2x4'' then you should check out an old thread on here.

LINK

It's got the Crowell Barker knife and I think that knife goes through it in 5-6 chops. I then seem to remember one of the hogs did the same thing with either a CG FBM or FFBM. I'd like to see what the NMFBM does it in.

One thing you have to realise is that 2x4 the guy was chopping was White Wood, not Yellow Pine like I was chopping so there is a HUGE difference in the hardness of the wood.

Yellow Pine is very hard and Dense compared to White Wood that is much lighter and much softer. ;)

It's like the difference between chopping wood and Concrete. ;)

Ank, did you pick up any white wood 2x4's yet? :D Can't wait to see the big chopping difference. You know there will be! ;)

Sounds good, Man those white pine 2x4's are going to be about 1/3rd the weight of those yellow pine 2x4's.

Just got back a few mins ago. :D

Yeah they are a lot lighter. ;)

Yellow Pine on top, White Wood On the bottom.

Yellow On the Right, White on the Left

Time to prove ur point :)

Did 3 cuts like the last one. ;)

Video is uploading now.

1st = 14 seconds

2nd = 5 seconds

3rd = 24 seconds...... The board split down the middle so it took longer.

Compare that to 20, 17 and 24 for the Yellow pine.

You can see the difference in the wood here:

Did it seems like a big difference to you between the two different woods?

Yeah it was a big difference.

The NMFBM destroyed the wood, just split and cracked the crap out of the 2x4.

Part of why I had to flip the board in this video. ;)

So yeah those times are with me flipping the board too.

I seen the time on your second 2x4...5-sec. on you time. Just think a little practice on white wood and getting the position just right. And you could possibly break 5 sec. :D

If I had a vise/bench setup I know I could, I really think I could get through it in like 2 or 3 hits. ;) :D

The NMFBM bit so deep in the wood I had to get it unstuck a few times here and there and with me holding the board it took some time on the 1st and 3rd cutting times.

You will understand when the video uploads.

And just think that your NMFBM isn't a designed competition cutter. It will take considerably more abuse than one. Here's a cool link to a vid with some knife tests. Looks like you could give them a run for their money. ;)

Looks like fun. I'm not sure if they are chopping white or yellow pine or something else. I'll have to watch it again.
