Video -- sar4 le

That's a great review - thanks a lot for doing that.

I found exactly the same with the Fehrman's handle shape.

Now I want a Sar4 even more!

Hi KH

Thanks for posting the great video / review. I also have both knives and would not give up either one. It would be a coin toss as to which one is better, but both are great knives without a doubt.

Bye the way...........

Love the Kiwi "excent" :D:D

It's been a few years since I've been there now (beautiful place)

Come again, I'll find you a beer :D

Yeah, I find the LC very very nice for what I'd call standard knife use :D

Actually I think I will Sell the Last Chance, because I've ordered a Shadow Scout, which goes better with the HoodHunter as a pair..

Maybe then get a HG55 LE :D

Without a doubt the fit and finish on the Sar4 is vastly superior. The Fehrman seems a bit rough hewn. As far as steel is concerned, the CPM-3V is supposed to be very good but, in my opinion, INFI is hard to beat and more than enough for any hard use. The handle material on the Sar4-LE is an extremely successful design. I would also say that the SAR4 is a better all round knife. There are only two problems: 1)The SAR4 is more expensive and 2) The SAR4 's are very hard to come by. In a couple of months it will probably be impossible to find a SAR4 for sale and would-be buyers (if they can find one) will have to pay a premium on an already expensive knife, whereas the Fehrman will probably always continue to be available and used Fehrmans will continue be sold for less than "sticker" prices. My 2 sense.

Owning both at the same time allows me to offer a fair insight, so please.. dont jump on me anyone..

1.. Maybe Fehrman didn't have good quality in the past for Fit and finish.. I am not sure.. I own 2 Fehrmans.. a 10"HoodHunter, and Last Chance.. The Fit and finish on both are incredible and second to none.

Both of the Fehrmans are probably my best cutting knives.. flat. no other knife I have comes close to the cutting geometry (OUT OF THE BOX) and at the same time the Edge retention.. the 3V is amazing..

The Only BAD thing I can say about the fehrmans is that their really cool Ergonomic handles are only useful if you hand size fits in the designed Range.. Mine. unfortunately.. do not.. so they feel great only in certain uses.

Now.. Onto the Sar4 and Busses.. I love them to bits.. Often the geometry out of the box is not the best.. but.. at the same time.. they do what they are designed to do very well. I have found the INFI steel sharpens like butter. This is similar in my experience to other tough metals like L6 that sharpen easy, and work well.. Personally, I have found the INFI looses its RAZOR Shaving sharp quite quickly.. but then it stays sufficiently sharp, for a very very long time.. and lets face it.. shaving sharp doesn't matter too much. As long as what you want to cut, gets cut..

The INFI certainly will be an easier to maintain steel in the field if you need to sharpen it on less than adequate tools.. (like the side of a rock ) :)

The simple reality is that I can find nothing bad to say about either brand, but I can find lots of good things to say about Busse.. Busse is a community, Busse IS FUN, Busse is a Hobby and and Attitude.. Fehrman is simply a damn good knife..

And.. Guys.. Glad to be here.

Yeah maybe I'm talking a bit out of turn saying that the Fehrman is rough hewn, it's just that the Nuclear Meltdown finishing really makes the SAR4 look much better in the video. It's a great detail (the NM).

hehe.. I agree.. The NM Rounded spines etc are one of my favourite features on a knife.. You just cant beat that smooth look :)

I cant imagine myself ever selling the SAR4 LE.. its just.. nice..

I added a few paragraphs of extra info to the Original Post for future readers...
just further thoughts on this cool blade.

Hey Kyley. I completely agree with you on the SAR4. For me it's perfect. And great videos by the way. Hope to see more of them in the future.
