VIDEO: Sharpening the Endura 4 ZDP-189 On the Edge Pro

I have always prided myself on my ability to sharpen a knife free hand,
just seemed to come natural, but pride comes before a fall is a real truism ;)
On getting and LEARNING the EdgePro, I concede my blades, while sharp
they were not truly as sharp as they could be over all.

You can get a knife quite keen with the sharpmaker but with Ultra Fine rods
it will need to be in pretty good shape to begin with.

I'll still use a small pocket hone, a Fallkniven DC4, has diamond back and ceramic front
very handy size, also my Spyderco Profiles too on trips when I don't have the EP with me.

It just takes some time to get it down, once you do you will be very happy. :)

Great Video. I have been doing it the same way as you. Works for me also. The only thing that I added was a compression spring between the knob on the shaft and the adjustable clamp. Makes for quick changing of the stones. What seem to be a little problem is when you have a blade with say a drop point. I spend a little extra time getting the tip in the right position. This slows the process down a tad. Again a fine video.

A short cut for drop points is to just tilt the tip upward just like I did with the this video, notice after I set the depth what I did with the blade once I started sharpening. It works very well believe me.

That's what I also do. Repositioning the blade is what adds a tad to the process. Want to keep the grind line the same across the entire edge. Using the edge of the spine rest and rotating on this edge, while pulling the knife away, keeps for a even line for me. (Maybe not the best explenation)
Thanks for the fine video.

Yeah it's easier than some think it is.

Once people get past the learning curve they tend to really get great results.
