EDIT: Video of the knife performing added in the end of the post
EDIT2: Now sold, if you would like one similar please contact me for custom orders - got plenty of exotic materials
Hey guys! Today coming to show you a knife that was very fun to make.
Im VERY addicted to buying exotic woods - really bad - and this is one of the wood slabs i got here that i was most eager to see once it was finished.
The wood below was bought from my supplier from an old door factory here in Brazil - the wood was inside their warehouse for more than 30 years

Then it was reborn and become this:

The fitting was precisely done to make the knife fit inside the saya and get locked by friction without a pin, as well matching the inner core of it when the knife is in its inside.

This wood - at least in my opinion - is so beautiful i decided to use it full for both handle and saya. Nothing of spacers and other materials, just the natural wood shining its own natural pattern.
Finding a wood with such figured and "marbled" pattern is extremely rare and since it is something we have little control over other than nature, it is a natural jewelry in my opinion.
This makes us to the next point: for matching such unique wood, i decided to work on a very unique style of blade.
In my opinion, a hamon is like viewing the literal DNA of the blade. You are literally seeing the differents steel microstructures as well carbon migration - all this combining the toughness of unhardened steel in the spine with a very hard edge.
I think it matched the wood perfectly.

The whole knife has 210mm and weights only 147 grams. This knife FLIES in the cutting board, moves like a laser.
This is also the style of knife im most used and experienced to craft - i have mastered this shape, balance and overall grind. The balance is perfectly centered in the choil area, giving you a feeling of the knife being a natural part of your arm once you use it.
Unfortunately i can only upload 10 pictures but ill see if i can do a video later showing it.

This blade has the perfect grind for this knife becoming your daily knife - it will both be tough enough to handle daily use and thin enough to slice food with minimal effort - at this thin, sharpening the knife will be very easy and fast.
For the very first months of use, you will barely need to touch the knife in a 1000~2000 stone for about one minute to make it shaving sharp again.
It has 3mm at the thickest point and its spine gets thin very gently towards the tip, not enough to be a very flex knife - it is rigid.
W2 steel hardened to 60hrc
