the beeping must have disrupted the integrity of the molecular structure of the ball.

actually, im thinking the lateral play should have have been corrected by tightening the pivot. loose blades cause all sorts of problems, including lock failure.

oh well.

cool vid, thx ank!!

No problem man. :D

Thanks. :)

I did the same as the other 2 knives to be fair and didn't adjust a thing, all were NIB knives.

Well I did sharpen the AL, but that was it, nothing else.

Guess I wont be buying a Manix 2 anytime soon. I would for sure it they used the lock back on it again.
I also love how the tip snapped right off.
Thanks for the test looks, like you save me some cash.

Yeah I had an endura back in the day, these test results don't surprise me one bit. As the video progressed I was calling it every time. I knew the batoning would fail the lock. I expected the blade play and wasn't too surprised when you said the tip busted. Spyderco just doesn't build their knives for ANY hard use.

These video's are great, definitely lets everyone know what they can/can't do to their knives.

i agree that spyderco does not make a hard use folder, but they are still among my favorites. Also, i don't believe that they claim to make a "hard use folder" just great knives for cutting and slicing.

Thanks for the review Mr Ankerson.

Yep, looks like a loc tite failure. More than likely none was put on it. Nothing can be expected to work right if it does not keep it's tolerances. I can see how it would fail pretty easy if the liners were allowed to spread apart. Horizontal blade play is not a function of the lock, it is the pivot screw getting loose. Continuing to use the knife with a loose pivot should not have been done as it does not prove anything about the lock. It does say something about what was trying to be accomplished. I noticed a few other things between the videos but I will leave it at this for now.

Saying this lock is junk because the screws got loose from lack of loc tite is like saying a $75,000 NASCAR engine is junk because someone forgot to put the drain plug in.

i was gonna get a manix 2 but after seeing this, i dont think im gonna...

thanks for the vids Ankerson and thanks TheKnifeDude for donating them:thumbup:
