That is the most pimped out grinder ive ever seen . I did cringe when i saw you grind with no saftey gear you only have one pair of eyes dude.
 
JT, that thing is beautiful. man that eats steel too. i wish my little 1x30 ate steel like that. you did a great job buddy. wish i could afford to have you make me one like that... wouldnt even have to be stainless!

I had the glasses off when i showed my face but then slipped some on befor i did some grinding. also i dont grind with any gloves, a lot of makes dont grind with gloves as thy consider them more dangerious.
 
Have you tried putting a small spring at the base of your tracking knob to keep it from moving? Works great for my el-cheapo homebuilt. By-the-way...:thumbup:

ya the spring i tryied did not work. but the o-ring works great.

JT here a while back you were complaing of belt noise! I would be willing to bet you are getting most of your noise from your set up. The plywood is resienating any vibration into and out of the barrel it is setting on. Kind of like a guitar.
Build a solid bench to set it on and I think you will find it is much quieter! I think that may be why the real KMG's are on a solid base with mount holes. The more rigid the base and its mount are, the less noise caused by any vibration! :)

I don't make knives yet, but hanging around you guys then watching this machine eat steel makes me want to.

What a speed :eek:. You set a new level to "build it yourself" thing. My grinder would explode if ran at that speed. Thanks for sharing and for the video quality, great inspiration for me...
