I posted a poll on my bruiser thread to find out if people wished to see a video of the Gladius chopping up a roadkill deer into pieces small enough to dispose of in a trash receptacle. The results were very much in favor of me posting it up, but the few dissenters agreed that with enough notice of warning posted they would easily have the freedom of choice to just not click on the video to watch it.

To respect those wishes, I am not embedding the video so that you may willfully choose to go watch the video despite the warnings, or not. This is not a public video, it is unlisted and rated for viewer discretion, so please respect the notices and decide for yourself if you wish to watch it or not, but do not give me a hard time about it.

The video is educational on the potential damage one of these blades we collect can do if it makes contact with the wrong target, either intentionally or on accident, so please be careful when using your blades as well. No living creature was harmed in the making of this video.

Some of the chops are very light force as I was hesitant to make too much of a mess or make contact with any metal. None of the swings were beyond 2/3 strength, so bear that in mind as well. First swing was base of skull at top of neck. Second swing was base of neck. The first torso shot was through the spine, but I misjudged the blade length so it was not a clean cut. The rest are pretty self evident in the video.

I hope this video only serves to either educate or entertain while completing a necessary task. My intent is not to offend as we have all seen much worse on our tv. This experience reminded me that I am thankful I don't live in the ancient Spartan, Greek, Roman or similar era where using these tools on other people was common place, but instead live in a relatively peaceful society where people wish to not harm each other.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Tim

With that, here is the video.

Good job phrasing all that. I know real-world demonstrations can invoke strong reactions (and sometimes even stronger counter-reactions!)

That said, that Gladius was impressive. I wasn't expecting it to cut so well at all. I think I would rather get shot or blown-up instead of hacked like that, although I am grateful I have avoided all three so far!

It's cool to see a blade go through meat and bone like that. Hard to get real world experience without any zombies around...

Busse Pinata Party!

Thanks for the laugh ^^^^

I've cleaned/field dressed dozens of deer with all kinds of blades, never seen one behead a deer quicker than a hack saw before-W O W !
I appreciate that you put yourself out there by posting this, I got slammed on YouTube for just showing a harvest.
I also appreciate that you were willing to use a blade beyond the cost that a lot of collectors will spend in a way that most would be too squeamish to do these days- well done Sir.
I have a few Busse/kin and all have impressed me so far, but, I still have to ask the silly question. How was the edge after chopping through all of that bone?

Nice. Now I want a Gladius. .....
They are neat, but keep in mind a single edged blade like the ak, ruck, or a B13 would be just as effective yet safer for the user. :)

Thanks and yes, the performance of the Gladius surprised me, although I have convexed the edges to be similar to the satin version. I expect that I could get very similar results with almost any similar sized Bussekin as well.

Very true. This replaces the hypothetical concept with the practical exercise.

I hoped you washed that Gladius afterward!
Of course, I can't have all that hair, blood & guts on it when I butter my toast. ;)

Busse Pinata Party!
Haha, I must admit it was way more fun than it should have been. Kind puts a man in touch with his primal side.

Note to self: do not miss while chopping with convexed INFI.
Very good observation. Also, a dull v-edge would be about 90% as effective, but still nothing to be reckless with. I have a scar from a lovetap to my shin from Snakebite Mojo to prove it.

Nice, gonna need one of those for the apocalypse,,,
You wouldn't be inadequately prepared. :D

Haha, I love it....thanks for doing this.
You are welcome, I am glad everyone is enjoying it.

Suhweeeet!!!

Awesome demo!

Jerry
:D

.

Thanks Boss, I'm glad you like it. I'd love to try out a Bolo13 in similar fashion! ;)

That first chop was pretty clean..
THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, I was kind of shocked. I'm only used to chopping wood or dried out hard bone so I was kind of illogically expecting more resistance at first and wanted to make sure the back edge had no reason to come back at me.

Making some chum for the zombies...............
Something like that. If a guy at the dump saw that come out of the garbage truck he might have wondered what the?!?

Great, now I want the Gladius-Thanks
I felt that way the first time I saw one and had to have one. I'm still thankful for the proxy that hooked me up all of those years ago!

Thanks, I figure it should be obscure enough the way I set this up that the headaches should be low. I doubt any man may come forward to make a verifiable claim that my posting this video somehow caused him harm, injury, loss or interfered with his rights, so it has greater potential to stimulate brain cells than do wrong. I enjoy using many of my Bussekin, despite them being fairly expensive. Since we only know for certain that we get one go around on this rock, why not enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts! ;) I can't take the money or the infi with me, but maybe the enjoyable memories?

The bones in a living, or recently killed creatures are very soft and flexible, so there was not a single mark on the blade anywhere when I washed it off afterward and looked at it. I've only ever dinged INFI with rocks or metal objects, never on anything softer.

I am impressed and surprised with the performance, thanks for taking the time Tim!

That made for some great Holiday viewing! Thanks for posting! :)

That was definitely an awesome show of what these things can do in a worst case scenario.
I can only imagine a single swipe being more than enough to "incapacitate" a living being.
The decapitation was almost too perfect, nice lil' ring of fur left at the neck.

I just got the Work Sharp Blade Grinding attachment and put a screaming thinned out edge on my Bussekin Sword.
If only I had a mammal carcass at my disposal....

Damn, it looks like I need to sign up for a YouTube account to view the vid.

Very impressive what that Gladius can do.
I'm think you approached that video perfectly. Respectful and didn't make it over the top,, just showed what the blade is capable of.
Thanks Tim!
