Video: Warning/notice gory content of Gladius chopping up a deer carcass. Educational

Hail the mighty Gladius! It took a lot of guts to make that video... In more ways than one. :)

Very cool, but I'm shocked at how amazed folks are by this. Mankind has used swords for thousands of years, and this gladius is an updated version of a very successful design! Well done Busse, as always.

I loved the video Tim, thanks for making it! I always loved that Roman sword, like someone already mentioned, I cannot imagine what it was like to do battle with one of those at the time they were used; it reminded me of the movie Gladiator at the beginning when the general leaves his sword stuck on a tree after going through a Germanic dude; ouch!
Awesome video sir, thanks again.

To think that gladiuses were traditionally designed more as stabbing weapons, and see it perform like this when chopping.. A real testimony of Busse quality.
Thank you for taking the time to film this, Tim!
Who was behind the camera? Seemed to be as impressed of the result as I was. Zooming in on the head like "did that really happen".

Impressive! That head chop was something.

But go find another carcass for a video showing how it does thrusting!

Nice video, Tim. I've always wondered what a nicely sharpened Gladius would do.

That guy you see picking up roadkill will be me :D

Thanks for the demo. It was educational - real life performance of a rather elegant edged tool being used for good reason.

Very impressive Tim. I think some of the body cuts would have been a little deeper had you swung threw and allowed the edge to slice as it passed through. For straight in cuts it did more than I would have thought. This def shows what a blade can do.

I'm not surprised to hear that the edge was not effected by chopping through the bone, but, I had to ask.

After watching the vid again I'm not only wanting a Gladius more than ever but wanting Busse to come out with a wasp waisted/Mainz/Hispaniensis style or even the longer Gladius that was used from horseback. His take on those styles would be great to see.

Since I associate deer hunting with Thanksgiving im feeling the need for left overs after watching that again, have a great day😎

Imagine what an AK would do!! Or one of the ruki wakis?!!

Thanks everyone. It is very pleasant to see the video so well received.
If/when the opportunity again presents itself I may do the same with a Butaniku, ruck/ak & 1311 sized blade. The guy holding the camera said he will keep his eyes peeled for other public service opportunities for the near future. In such instance much more powerful swings with a single edged blade on a fresher target can better demonstrate the abilities. The first video was very much a learning curve.
As for the stabbing performance of the gladius, suffice to say it was every bit as effective to use as a poker to pick up the pieces for tossing into a can, but did not really present as a tactful display and was not filmed. :)
