Well, I couldn't help myself. Ever since I saw it at an online knife purveyor's site, it just grabbed me. Me being a dedicated Spyderco Native fan, this was right up my alley only in a handmade custom. Then I saw on another forum a little while back that Spyderco has a collaboration in the works with Howard Viele for the Phoenix. I just got giddy. At the time I decided ok, I'll just wait and get one, two or three of these when Sal and Company get these on the market. Well, I thought it would be nice to have the Spyderco production model and have the original that it was based on. Soooooo, I bit the bullet and bought the Viele/Mah Push. I will post some pics after I receive it. This is the 2nd handmade custom I've acquired. I hope this isn't going to become addictive. Sal/Kristi, any idea when we can expect to see the Phoenix become available, this year, next year? Since one of the knives (I think there were at least two made) is mine now, here's a couple of pics I found online of the Push.

Spyderco collaboration?

That's a pretty piece. It does have a Native like structure. Looks just as functional as a Native. Like you, I'm a big fan of this little powerhouse of a knife. Yours pics and others have really shown the aesthetic side of the Native. This one sorta looks like a "Sunday go to meetin" Native. What are the specs?

CPM S30V, Ti Orange Peel Bolsters and Clip. White Micarta Scales. BL is about 4" with an OAL of about 9" approx. This Custom knife features a Ball Lock Mechanism.

Wow, that's pretty big. Doesn't look it. It definitely makes my short list. By the way, your link to the Spyderco forum is a dead link.

I finally got around to taking a few pics. This is one great knife. It is a handful and when the description "smooth as butter", they must be referring to this knife. I've gotta stop buying these, I just gotta! I sure hope Spyderco follows through the "Phoenix" collaboration. I'll have to get one to go with this one. I also included some comparison pics with some other Spydies. Also in my original post, I stated I thought there were only two of these made, well at least 10 were made as this one is number 10.

With D'Allara Drop Point...I think the collaboration will have this blade style.

Very nice piece, congratulations and thanks for sharing. I also liked it at first sight :)

Congradulations! Question though: It looks like there is air between the ball-lock and the side where the blade is. Shouldn't the ball-lock be making contact with the blade at that point?

When it is open, the blade is definitely locked in position. Not sure how far the ball is supposed to go into the slot. The D'Allara has a space as well.

Thanks Phillip. Nice smooth buying experience. Wasn't sure if I would get called to the carpet if I mentioned your business with the pics here. I keep checking your site for more possibilities.
