hello everyone. I'm new to this forum as I collect mostly traditional pattern pocketknives. But I've finally keyed onto this forum as the description of it keyed a 35 year old memory.

During my last tour in Nam, 1969, I actually saw a tomahawk carried by a trooper from, I believe, the 'Rakkasans' (101st airmobile). It was a striking sight, seeing an American soldier carrying such a thing, but many of us carried and used non-issued weapons and other gear. I always thought that perhaps he had just had it sent from home (my father sent me a Smith & Wesson .38 in a box of mom's baked goods) but doing a little research on the web, I see that this was apparently issued to some troops, or sold at in-country PXs.

Can anyone here direct me to a website giving the history of that 'hawk'?

Thanks if you can help, guys.

You came to the right place, sarge. Start here
http://www.americantomahawk.com/
and select the Peter LaGana Memorial link from the drop down menu. From there, you may want to hit the dropdown menu again for product info on the Vietnam hawk. There is plenty of other related info throughout the site. Explore & enjoy! ;)

OH DEAR YOU DIDN'T GO THERE DID YOU!!!

Now you will become hooked, you will exchange a few emails, scour the net from cheap prices, buy 'just one'

and then you are beyond all help, the addiction kicks in....

and the worst part is you will love every minute of it, till the bank takes you house away, then you have nowhere to store your hawks!!!!
