You might remember this one, the last best buy of 2003:

#5 -- 12 inch 10 ounce village style Sirupati by Bura. Five mintes worth of rust on the blade. Great deal for this little winner at $35.00

Well, it arrived today and what a sweet knife! Yup...maybe 5 minutes worth of surface rust, but it's a Bura...so who cares? This will be my learning blade for sharpening purposes although it has a fine edge on it now.

For some reason, I didn't realize that Villagers came all steel...the bolster, butt capp, chape and keeper. Way cool! It also came with the usual high quality sheath and frog...no skimping there!

At least now this newbie has examples of first, blem and villager...and I can see the differences, so it should help me in future purchases!

Yangdu - Thank you and Happy New Year!!!

hehehe...

I *am* learning from your examples after all! :D

I love khuks with steel furniture, I think it looks really sharp with my preferred horn handle.

mPisi, last of the horndogs...

Nope, you haven't quite learned all the tricks yet.

I got the 12" village Sirupati too. One by RR and one by Bura.

:p :p :p :D

Now Rusty...

You do have just a *little bit* of a head start on me Sir! ;)

By the way, this is also the first example I've seen of unpolished horn...cool!

I got a sirupati from SilverFox that had a sanded horn handle. They're GrrrrrEAT!
