Would someone please tell me why many of the villager models seem to have a polished area near the cho. Is there some significance to having a polished cho or is it the result of the normal manufacturing process? Thanks in advance.

I have a villager like that. I'd say its just part of the manufacturing process.

Right on the money. The satin finish on a villager blade runs lengthwise, i.e. parallel with the blade. In the process of finishing the handle, specifically cleaning off any excess laha at the juncture of blade and bolster, the knife is turned crossways to the belt/wheel. This produces a polished area with lines running perpendicular to the blade, right in the area of the cho. That's what you're seeing.

Many thanks guys. Not trying to be obsessive compulsive...but I had to know. Cleaning off the glue makes sense.
