Just wondering if anyone has received their village models from UB's deals posted on March 27 yet, and if so can you give a quick report on them on how they perform and look or any other info on them ?:)

I haven't gotten my sirupati yet and am having some anxiety setting in. I usually get mine within 3 days after UB mails it. This HIKV is a terrible thing. It's been about two weeks since I got my last khuk and I need my fix.;)

Things are just moving a little slower right now it seems. I just emailed UB about one of mine that hasn't shown yet and it too usually takes 2-3 days. So I'm kinda guessing the ole' postal service is going through another hiccup....spring fever probably has set in :p

Yeah, I get a little antsy waiting too but I think we've all gotten used to getting our fixes pretty quick....

Keeping the candle buring for that long lost khuk to come home :p

He told us things would not be the same. I'm sure they will all arrive soon. Perhaps you all just don't deserve them yet.

munk

Yeah munk, I must agree that someone doesn't think we deserve them yet and I think it's that devil of postwoman that delivers my mail.:( I'm going to have to lay in wait for her and ambush her, I know it's her that' s doing this to me.

Uncle Bill did his part by sending it, he has nothing to do with it at this point.:) It's between me and "HER" now.;)

Villagers? So that's what this big box from HI is all about! Boy was I pleasantly surprised to get a whole batch of villagers that I didn't even order. I figured they were just a bonus from Uncle Bill for being a dedicated customer or something. They sure are nice!

Let me know if you still want them. I'm sure we could work something out that is kinda / sorta fair. :D

:D Norm, I think you're poking the proverbial lion with a stick:D!

Ohhhh, so it's not the postwoman.:p There I go accusing the wrong person again.

So I guess I need to take a road trip to get my sirupati.;)

Svashtar, you really shouldn't tease those of us with severe HIKV you might hurt our feelings and make us cry.:D :D :D

My villager isn't here yet - it didn't come with the mail.
I figured that the camel just had to stop for a drink.

Mine got here today, nice 17inch AK by Bura. Already have bolster and buttcap where I want them, and will work on the blade tomorrow. Must say, edge is very sharp--only one dull/flat section and it's about 1/2 inch right in the center of the belly, so it'll likely go away just with blade sanding before I even get around to stropping it. Happy, as always, and anxious to get it finished up. Handle has more of an eliptical shape to it than Bura's typically do, but it's hand filling and comfy, and the wood looks like some neat grain is going to spring out with the upcoming oiling and waxing. Sheath of rough, heavy leather---fortunately the thin shiny stuff doesn't seem to find its way on villagers.
Anyway, Shipped on Monday delivered today, so things are a tad slower than usual, but still ahead of most knife distributors out there. :)

Yeah; I want it under the pillow the night I ordered it.

Hey T1mpani- what is it about the thin shiny leather? I can't figure that out. Is it supposed to be a good thing? What part of the beast did it come from? I'm with you- I usually prefer the thick stuff.

munk

I haven't a clue, Munk. It may be flesh from the buffalo eyelids or something. :) It doesn't seem to like oil very much. Wax works okay, but I'll take the ugly, rough leather any day.

Or his scrotum.

I wonder if it isn't prized? Light and slender are attributes, as is the resistance to fluids. It may be what we think of as the worst is actually the best. But I wouldn't know- I'm just wondering.

munk

Munk, the scrotum is some fine skin alright, but there is one big problem ~ the leather cover grows and falls off when it is hot, and shrinks too tight when it is cold :D

Stevo- the scrotum was just a joke- I don't know where the skinny leather comes from. Are you saying it falls off?

oh- thats a joke- hot and cold. See what a perfect straight man I am?

Might be prized. Given that description, though, it might also be ribbed for her pleasure. ;)

Received a village AK today from the March 27th specials. 17 inches, 22 ½ ounces of no-nonsense, hard-working Khukuri. The AK has a great wooden handle, and excellent scabbard.
At first glance the best village model I’ve seen to date. Will give it some finishing touches this afternoon.

I love it....as soon as we start this thread....two guys get their khuks. Guess Munk was right....we don't deserve them yet. Maybe they'll show up when we've paid pennance.

I figure, sometimes you're the football, sometimes you're Charlie Brown.....but you never ever get to be Lucy :}

Oops, forgot to post that I received mine today. Actually I got two and had to send one back to Bill. So there will be another one available when he gets it back.

First villager I have gotten and it is good and sharp, handle should turn out nice when it gets some finish.:)
