Here's some old school goodness... a rare, vintage Al Mar SERE IV, double edged fighting knife. An interesting collectible, or a great fixed blade EDC belt or pack knife.
$500 OBO, shipped to you via regular Pay Pal (you can pay by credit card if you don't have a Pay Pal account), includes all fees and US Postal priority mail with tracking number included.
The SERE series knives were designed by Al Mar in collaboration with Col. Nick Rowe, the creator of the Special Operations Command's SERE School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This is the double edged fixed blade SERE 4 Model #3004-B. As far as collectibility, this is number 155 of 200. Al Mar would produce 200 numbered pre-production knives and send them to select dealers. If they sold well, he would run full production. There's one on Ebay right now that is not numbered ($630 in original packaging), so I have to assume they went to full production.
Factory Specs:
Al Mar SERE IV - Seki Japan, No 155 of 200.
Model #3004-B
Blade Length: 5-3/4"
Blade Thickness: 1/8"
Blade Steel: AUS-6, Rockwell hardness 57-59
O.A.L.: 10-3/8"
Scales: Black Neoprene
Scabbard: Eagle Industries Codura nylon sheath with sharpening stone.
I bought this a few years ago from a collector when my affliction for double edged fighting knives (everything from Fallkniven G1's, to Cold Steel Tai Pans, to Treeman LRPs) was at it's zenith. This Al Mar SERE just had that 2nd kind of Old School/Spec Ops cool. Unfortunately, I'm now into high end rifles and the little lady gave me three choices if I were to add anything else to the rifle collection. Divorce, Hawaiian vacation, or sell some knives so here we are.
I bought this used, it's in very good condition. I've never carried, used or sharpened it - it's just sat in the safe. I don't know if the sheath is original. Seems to be, it's in good shape, snaps work perfect, and is easily attachable via belt loops, or molle loops to a chest rig, or backpack. I always thought is was too cool to carry. I keep a Cold Steel San Mai III SRK on my pack fwiw. If you're into old school cool or collectibles, this has it in spades. If you want a well designed, perfectly balanced, real world, double edged fighting knife with some panache` - the new breed would be hard pressed to beat it for size, weight, and functionality. The blade is super sharp as well.
