This is a truly awesome broad axe of a type that I am told was used in ship building, although it could be used for any hewing tasks, or just enjoyed on the wall. It has been full refinished and expertly fit with a new hickory handle. The head is in great used shape and no rust, chips or cracks. The tool has been treated with several coats of boiled linseed oil, and the new wooden wedge is rock solid tight.
The tool weighs 5lbs and is 20" long. The roughly 4lb head is 8" long with a 6.5" edge.
