I have an OLD Old Hickory knife with a letter "R" circled on the handle between "Old" and "Hickory." What does that mean about the age of the knife?

Thanks! What I'm wondering is the R an indication of when the knife was made? This is the only one I've seen with the R, and Ive seen a lot of them.

I’ve got one too. Bought on eBay about 8 years ago. I know nothing about its age. Well used. Cleaned up ok and took a good edge.
