A few days ago i scored this vintage 4-liner Puma 959 hunting folder from 1986.
Still brand spanking new in original yellow/green box and complete with soft leather pouch & papers.
Never worn, used, or sharpened and always kept inside the box.
Inlayed in the front sambar stag panel is a real silver shield where the buyer could have his initials engraved.

That is very cool  Great score.

A very nice knife, and all the goodies to go with it. I've never seen one with the box and everything. I like the idea of a plastic box. Very secure and safe, plus its just neat looking....

Thanks for sharing the great pictures

one of puma's last masterpieces, i used to collect pumas & remember this biggie well. i believe at the time it was called the universal. great find & the polish on pumas in the 70s & 80s was fantastic. that gut blade will really work well which is'nt something i can say of most gut hooks on straight knives.--dennis

Yeah that really is an awesome knife. Enjoy that one,I know that I would. Is that a sheath that I see in the box? What style is it?
Jim

grateful if i may chime in , the sheath is chaomis leather. in germany most hunting requires a registered guide. in older times the guides wore these type knives around their necks as they were out in the boonies.--dennis

Interesting. Thank you sir for the info.

They just dont make knives like that anymore which is a bloody shame. Gorgeous knife my friend. Use it well.

I love those old Pumas, the stag on this one is incredible!!! I used a Puma Trail Guide as my main hunting knife for years, great knives!!!...Tony

Yes......how could you not agree with everyone else on your find there Kwackster?
That Stag is great!! What a great find, thank you for sharing, and showing us these great photos.

Kwackster,

congrats to a super knife! And great photography too
Those older Pumas can be very beautiful.

I hope you don't mind if I use the opportunity to show mine?
NIB 1984 complete package - one of my favorites and one of the very few knives that I haven't used at all (so far :D)

Best, Peter

beautiful knives. If they were still in production they would be on my to get list for sure.

Great knifes. I remember dreaming of one as a teenager. I wanted the guttingblade for my moosehunt and the bird hook for its intended uses. Most of all I wanted it because it was beautiful. But it costed as a better equiped bicykle, so this was a barrier I couldnt climb in those days. Rarely I have seen them here on the secondary market and one can still by a good bicykle for the same money. Nowadays I would prefere the knife though. Its one of those knifes that is factory custom quality. I have a 667 prospector from that period in time and also that one is a wonder of detail.
