Vintage Puma 959 Hunting folder

Beautiful knives. And those were designed long before the "tacticool" days (not that there is anything wrong with that look). I like the fact you could dispatch small game, a fish, cut small branches or bone, shave, and still open your bottle of wine with one of those. Both of those are real gems.

I question, though. I have an old Puma Stockman, a game warden folder, and a large folder. All are about 30 years old. None of them have the Puma gold shield in the handles anymore (they just fell out!) and I noticed neither of these specimens do, either. What gives? Any thoughts?

I had been thinking of writing Gutmann cutlery to see if they would send me a couple, but haven't gotten around to it. Heck, it's only been about 20 years now... don't want to get in a hurry.
