Vintage puma white hunter

I have a double barrel LC Smith that Grandad bought new, gave to my Dad, and Dad gave to me. Since I don't have any children, I'll give it to my brothers boy.
Never once have I considered selling it. It just wouldn't be right. Took my first squirrel with it. No telling what Grandad/Dad, did with it. If it could only talk.

Yeah family heirlooms hold a special place in my heart. Thats why I think I will return it to him down the line. I did end up picking it up from him. Going to mirror polish where there are some scuffs. Someone tried to repolish it at one point and didn't take their time. It is still in great shape though for being as old as i think it is

The White Hunter us a great knife. More so the vintage ones than the new production.

In the early 70s it was about a $39 knife according to old Puma brochures. That era was carbon steel with a thin chrome plating so be very careful in trying to buff scratches out.

I think there has been some debate as to some of them being made without serrations vs. them being sharpened out by owners who did not like them.

I think early 80s and earlier were the creme of the crop on these.

If it truly is one of the old ones, you will reduce the collector value for many if you polish it, plus it's a knife made to be used, so do so :)

Hmm interesting it is mostly polished already I was just going to touch it up where there were mistakes but maybe I will leave it alone. I am definitely going to use it. I'm an avid deer hunter so I'll start with skinning a deer. Its a little big but think it will work good for skinning and maybe some butchering as well.
