As many know, the Virginia legislature passed the amended switchblade law, but the Governor vetoed it. If you are a Virginia Knifemaker or Collector, it is important that you encourage your legislator to override the veto. Below is a formatted letter to email to your representative. It is imperative that you do this ASDAP, as the veto vote is this afternoon.

Delegate/Senator,
*
My name is*XXX. I am a constituent, and my address is*XXX.*I am reaching out to ask for your support of HB 1432/SB 1347, which will be called for an override to the Governors veto this Wednesday, April 5th.*HB 1432/SB 1347 will allow for Virginians to legally carry a switchblade knife for lawful professional or lawful recreational activity. ***
*
As it stands now, it is illegal for any individual to carry with them an automatic knife (also known as a switchblade) for any purpose, regardless of whether their occupational or recreational activity would be aided by the use of such a knife (i.e., roofers, HVAC installers, farm hands, knife collectors, etc.)* In addition, unintentionally breaking this law could result in a misdemeanor or a felony charge, depending on violation specifics.
*
The passage of this legislation will make a difference to me because*XXX.
*
I ask you to override the Governors veto on HB 1432/SB 1347 to protect law-abiding Virginians who choose to carry their automatic knife/tool.
*
Thank you,
XXXXXXX
