For those where unaware, I've spent the last 10 months working on a new web site where makers (and some collectors) can list and sell their knives for sale directly to the public.

The site went live this morning, so go check it out. This will not work for everyone, but it's mostly for mid to high-end knives. Here's a screen shot of the home page:

Thanks!

Beautiful site Burt. With a fantastic slide show of making one of your knives to boot.

I hope this is very successful for you and the other makers on it.

Great site Burt, I love the concept. I suppose its still all about how its run. Who updates the site? Keep things current is the lions share of the work I suppose.
Awesome job.

I look forward to making a purchase.

Nice looking site and layout.

My feedback for improvements-

Profile page with black print on a brown background is not readable....

Font size is too small......

Sorry guys, was out of town for a few days. Have a cousin who was killed in Afghanistan last week, and was at a funeral.

Anyway, to answer a couple questions... I'm running the site, sort of acting as the master gate-keeper on new listings, but pretty much everything else is automated. That means, that no one ever forgets to mark a knife "sold" - it happens by itself. Knives are added by the makers and I approve them and boom, there they are. It's all pretty cool to see how it works behind the scenes.

As to the black font issue. They're still finding a couple of bugs in browser compatibility. If you use Firefox or Safari (Mac) it is perfect. In IE, it works unless you're using an older version, and we had one guy who was still using the old AOL browser and that wasn't good at all. The font is white and a good, readable size, but different browsers display things differently. They'll get that all wrapped up in the next few days, so it'll basically look the same on any browser.
