Email sent on Manakamana Special. I don't have anything by Rajkumar yet, here's hoping.

What is the story behind the MS anyway? I don't see anything about it on the HI site.

Wow! What an offering!! I can already hear the fight with my wife, but...

Email sent for Chitlangi!! I just can't let that one go by.

I'll take: 14 inch 17 ounce Seax by Lachhu. Satisal wood handle. $75 VKPS. E-mail sent:cool::thumbup:

Been looking at that seax for way too long. Why has shinook failed to buy it from under me?! Perhaps my new friend with similar taste, Wroughndt? I am going poor; anyone?

I wanted to get both the Seax and the YCS, but the Chitlangi to me called the loudest. I've been wanting one for a while, this one looks to be special with the neam wood. It will probably be my "Display Khukuri" as it's not for field use. Not to mention that my initial interest in Khukuri comes from reading the "Monster Hunter International books". The main character had a Ganga Ram for the first book, and after loosing it in the second book replaced it with a Chitlangi. So, now I'm caught up!! ;)
Hopefuly my wife won't skin me with it...

Email sent on a potential second Seax similar to the one pictured.

The Seax is mine! Sharkalicious. Bric, I hope you get one. I've been waiting for just the right one for some time now....I think it found me. Danboy, grammer is important. Never forget that. :D

I was bad. Very bad.

You mean good. We are celebrating Vishawa Karma Puja after all.

Bric, thanks for the link. That is an awesome thread, great to put some faces with names since I have several knives by Tirtha, Bhakta, and Lachhu.

I'm really excited about this Chitlangi!! It looks incredible in the picture.
I do have a question abut it though. This is going to be my first neem wood handle, is there anything I need to know about neem? Is mineral oil good on it, or is another oil/finish recommended? This one is definitely not going to be a user blade for me.

As Jake once told me:
The chit is like a gentleman's siru. It's not as much of a chopper, but it oozes style and grace.
A siru is what you pack to clear out the brambles along the trail.
A chit is what you open carry to a fancy social gala to chip your own ice off the ice sculpture for your beverage...trust me, no one is going to say a thing to you about it;)

I don't have one, but I would like to:)

I hope you get it. Taking into account the quality of the MS design, the level of work that Rajkumar kami does, and the price, this has to be one of the best deals in a long time.

The MS is an excellent, brand new design, which is why you won't find it on the HI web site or any postings from the past. I have one that is almost identical to the one posted here. See my review at:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...rambit-and-Great-Buys?p=11253684#post11253684

There is also an earlier posting by Yangdu describing a Manakamana trip by the kamis, when they came up with the new design. You can probably find it by doing a search on Yangdu's postings and going back two or three months before my review.

I snaged an old 18" Chit awhile back, It is a very nice blade, very light and fast. Might be my favorite that I have. Enjoy Shinook.

According to Yangdu I got it:).

It looks a lot like my 18" ASTKs with a slimmer, more Sirupati like contour.

Suprised to see it matches them in weight even though it is also .5" shorter. I bet it has a beastly spine!

Also, the pics look like horn and not Satisal. I like both equally though.

Wow, I just saw that the 18" Himalayan Prince Knife is 37 oz!! Is that normal for them? That is 6 oz heavier than my 18" Ganga Ram!!

You might be pleasantly surprised on both those counts. My Manakamana Special was also posted by Yangdu at 17.5", but it turned out to be a full 18" in length, measured in a straight line from the point to the center of the end of the handle.

Also, the satisal in the picture of my MS looked very dark, almost like horn. That's because the wood had a very fine dark grain that was polished up so it looked almost like marble when I got to see it in person.

These MS knives really are something special.

I do have a question abut it though. This is going to be my first neem wood handle, is there anything I need to know about neem? Is mineral oil good on it, or is another oil/finish recommended? This one is definitely not going to be a user blade for me....

Since this is going to be a display knife rather than a user, there is something you should know about neem wood.

My first neem wood handle was one of Lokendra kami's Gorkha Hat Knives. It arrived sanded smooth, but the wood was a dirty looking grayish brown color with no visible grain. I didn't know anything about neem wood, but decided to polish the handle, since the blade was beautiful and the wood carving was excellent.

I started with about 400 grit sandpaper and worked my way up in steps to 2000 grit. By that time the grayish brown color had changed to a rich tan-brown with a very nice grain showing and a pleasant lustre

I then shifted to rottenstone, continued polishing, and the result was like polished brass, but with a wood grain. I finished with several coats of lathe polish that brought out the shine even further, and gave some protection to the wood.

That's my recommendation. It should be easier for you because I had a lot of carving detail to work around in the Gorkha Hat Knife.

Good luck. Post pictures if you can.
