Visit With Sgt.Khadka At His Home In The Village of Panuti
On my first day in Nepal , I visited the shops and the Kamis who were happy to see me. They were celebrating Viswakarma puja and in festive spirits. I distributed all the gifts you so kindly donated to them and they sent their grateful thanks to all of you. They were all happy and pleased with their holiday bonus.
The next day, I was invited by Sgt. Khadka to visit his home village of Panuti and to have lunch with his family. He has a lovely home and is very proud of it.
(#1)This picture is me receiving the traditional greeting with flowers from Sgt. Khadka's wife and you can see the ring of Mala flowers around my neck. The lunch with the family was beautifully prepared by Sgt. Khadka's wife and consisted of traditional Nepali food, rice, dal fish and chicken. It was delicious.
Here we are posing on the balcony (#2) after our wonderful lunch. I really enjoyed visiting with their family and friends. Their son, Ram, one of the students we sponsor, is in Latvia finishing his medical degree. When he graduates, he will return to the village and practice medicine there.
I know why he will return to Panuti. As you can see behind us, the countryside is beautiful.
Sgt.is an excellent craftsman and makes a knife with a very sharp blade. His wife is a wonderful cook, maybe the best in the village. Their hospitality during my visit made me feel welcome and at home with their family and friends.
I will be sharing more pictures along the roads in Nepal from time to time. You will be able to see what I saw on my trip and enjoy my experiences too.
