That stream reminded me of James Corbett's writings of fishing for trout & mahseer in the streams of Nepal & Northern India. Need to re-read them this winter.

how does the stove work? Does the lady put firewood in the hole and then the flames come up thru holes under the pots?

She puts the firewood in the hole (Nepali chulo) then the flames come up thru holes under the pots and pan. My father ranch house has huge Nepali chulo where we use to cook our everyday food and kept home nice and warm too.


Also is that a grain grinder in the last set of pictures.
They are traditional millstone (ghatta) grain grinder.

The building with the yellow roof is Buddish temple (gompa).
