Thanks buddy.
I don't remember exactly what area we visited in the Pico's, just have the memories of fog, rain and the color green for the landscape where most of Spain is yellow/brownish colored in the summer time![]()
Makes sense after reading what you said about not hitting high ground too often. The lower elevation spots I could think of are, indeed, quite green. If you happen to come back, don't forget to do the RUTA DEL CARES (between Puente Poncebos and Caín). Lovely and easy. Most of the people start in Poncebos (the road access is much easier, getting to Cain is a bitch) and do the back and forth trip in one day (10km each way).
You will love Pirineos... it goes from green to white and back to green with no yellow in between... XD
Thanks buddy.
Thanks for all your tips, maybe I'll shoot you an email once we have thing planned out a bit more.
Please do!
I use Oruxmap on my phone for GPS with maps downloaded from open andro maps. In Andalusia the were not very complete. Maybe you know of another good source for Spanish hiking maps?
I am a Garmin guy... and I do have the TopoHispania for Spain (only spanish side of the Pirineos) and TopoPirineos, which also includes the French side. Any chance you could borrow one?
The only thing I know about Orux Maps is that it lets you download GoogleMaps images and then load them into your device to be used as the base maps. The problem is that you will only get graphic information with no aditional details about elevations, paths, water streams, fountains, etc. I ran into a German guy who was using Orux Maps when cruising along Morocco in his VW T3 Syncro (they were in Playa Blanca to be precise).
A good resource for GPS stuff in Mendiak.net. It is a forum. I have asked a few things over there always with great success.
