Visited the Canal Street Cutlery factory today

I have owned two Pinches, still have one in Sambar stag and gifted a reclaimed chestnut, both are very nice. The shield does not bother me in the least. I like what Canal Street Cutlery has to offer, for a production company.

So, what jujigatame asked, is that Swinden of the Swinden key lineage?

Thanks for sharing by the way.

If it was Dave Swinden, Sr ... then yes, that is the man who patented it in 1961. He does have a son, Dave Swinden, Jr.

Edit: On second look at the OP, I'd say it was Dave Swinden, Sr:

[...]I also met Eric (ea42 blade forum member) and Dave Swinden. Mr. Swinden started with Schrade in 1948.[...]

Yes that's Dave Sr. all right, although Jr. works there as well.

Bruno it was great to meet you guys! Sure wish I'd have had more time to chat but the boss was really crackin' the whip, I couldn't leave my chair!! I hope you enjoyed the tour. :) Jean's a great person to work with, she's really passionate about the business, guess it runs in the family ;)

Here's a shot of Dave working on an old Schrade Cut. Co. lobster, I believe he was repairing the scissor:

I have collected knives since 1987 and the two CS knives I own,the Kabar swing guard folding hunter and the first anniversary(2006) wildcat driller are as good or better than any knife I have owned.
