I stopped by the Ruana Knife factory this week located in Bonner MT. All I can say is I am impressed. 3 guys build the knives and sheaths. Please watch this video. Anyone can appreciate these guys.

I agree guys, This is the reason I will spend more for one of their knives or any company that still manufacturers knives old school. The gentleman who makes the sheaths is an elderly guy and one of the nicest people I have met. The machinery is vintage. The quality is second to none considering so much is handmade. I hope everyone gets to watch the video and appreciate the workmanship. These guys are Hall Of Fame.

This company started by two Indians approached Mr Ruana and needed knives that could hold an edge longer because they were skinning Frozen dead horses and the knives of the day were not holding up to the task.

I've watched the video a couple of times before, really gives you an appreciation of the hard work that goes into making the final product. If you don't mind me asking, what's the thickness of the smokejumper knife?

I had an old Ruana custom and it was a great hunting knife and skinner.

Looks like a fat 1/8 inch. Not quite 3/16

The price is probably steep compared to some knives out there that are similiar but after meeting these guys...... I am a fan. So i went ahead and bought the Smoke Jumper to support them. They are flat out awesome and old school. The guy making sheaths is married to the daughter or the original founder of Ruana knives. He makes those sheaths one by one by hand. Its incredible.

thx for sharing. Those are good hard working people. make me want to become a bladesmith.:D
