This 20 inch Sirupati along with a couple of others was made by a visiting village kami and he has made a very heavy, strong, chiruwa style khukuri. I don't know his name and he did not mark the blades but the carry the HI logo mark which says they are HI quality. This 20 incher is 7/16 thick and weighs a very hefty 2 lbs, 6 ozs. The blade hardening on these three is the typical village kami style -- excellently done. Karda, chakma, scabbard and superfrog are very good quality.

I rate this rig as a 9.5 out of 10. The reason I mark it down is because the handle fit and finish is not top quality. It is strong, tough, and will never fail but it could look a little better than it does. For this reason, these three Sirupatis will sell for $95 for a savings of $30 and will go with full HI guarantee.

Call or email if interested. A lot of Sirupati for not a lot of money.

Khukuri FAQ

I'll take it if you still have one . Do you take cashiers checks ? Who do I make it out to ? Where do I send it ?

Uncle Bill, what do you make of this?

Two of your three Village 20" Chiruwa Sirupatis grabbed by two guys who've never met, both from Huntsville, Alabama?

Just coincidence, or...?

Welcome aboard, Edd. Nice to see a fellow Huntsvillian on the khukuri forums. If you're not a khukuri knut already, you will be soon. This stuff is more addictive than drugs.

BTW-"lefrvj" (or something like that) is from Madison. He's a frequent flyer here.

Hmmm...maybe there should be a North Alabama Khukuri Konvention.

Uncle bill, what is the finish on the blade like ? Is it village finish ? It looks closer to the HI line finish in the pictures.

Welcome, Edd. But be careful -- as Chris said, these things are addictive.

Chris, maybe the South is on the rise again!!

Man do I have it bad ! I can't wait for my
sirupati to arrive . I feel like a 5 yearold on christmas. I told a freind and he may have caught it to . Just like me he has always wanted a real sword . Just like me , he likes to walk the path less traveled .Blades like broadswords and longswords are just too blah . Khukuris are mystical .The work that goes into HI blades make them so .

Uncle Bill , I am sorry if i am being a bother . My enthusiasam is getting the best of me. I already collect folding knives , handguns , And rifles . This will be my first large fixed blade , but not my last.
My only concern is that I have had many things lost by the local postal workers. If this happens this time , I'll just scream . Thank you for your time and effort.

Uncle Bill,

It arrived today: thank you. Your assessment of it was dead-on. Very nice blade, though perhaps a little on the thick side; handle a little rough where horn meets steel, but as you say, very sturdy none the less. (And this can easily be fixed.) There are some gaps between the brass bolster and the base of the blade where normally it is filled in with laha (is that right--the all natural kami epoxy stuff?). The bolster is still very solid and secure. I am just afraid that water will find its way inside through the gap, so I plan to fill that in with a bit of epoxy and it will be fine. Sheath, frog, karda and chakma all well made.

Who ever this kami was, he has talent. If he ever comes back, I hope Gelbu will get his name and have him make some more (with his mark on them). I'd really like to see a 15" AK by him.

Anyway, it was a good deal and I'm very pleased with it. Thanks again.

BTW, Uncle--you have e-mail.
