Volli

If you don't mind voiding your warranty it's pretty simple to remove the safety and or the assist spring on the 580/585s and I imagine the volli is the same.

Really? I have tinkered with BM's but never one of their assisted's and wasn't sure if they were a hassle to deassist. I may have to pick one up now thanks

The only thing I don't like is the safety mechanism on the spine. For me, it isn't a necessary feature, and I could have done without it. Now that I'm looking at it closely, you might be able to take the knife apart and remove it. I can't be sure just by looking, but I'm sure someone will take it apart and try.

You can easily remove the safety on the assisted knives, so long as it has liners. I did the same thing on my 585 when I was polishing the bushings and oiling the spring. Not difficult to do at all.

I just found out about the Volli from this thread, and was getting all hot and bothered over it, then I realized it was assisted :grumpy:

...and then you ditched the entire program right? Since the Volli carefully follows the formula the Barrage series offered, (or offers) not auto but assisted, and which proves a very nice way of opening a blade in complete safety I don't see the problem with this design. See, I love autos, but being in Cali, proper SF Bay Area, but can't carry them (and I HATE looking at a knife I can't legally use in public...) the problem is solved. Every (local) LEO I talk to says they have no issue with assisted's...and a few with autos in mind say the same thing...I am just glad we have a choice and am one content with not removing springs and safety bars in favor of a design that I actually enjoy using. Bottom line, I love Osborne designs, and if Warren says it's good I'll buy it. ;)
