People of the Buck Nation,

How many times have we told someone about sending in their knife for warranty repair and how to best do it ? Quite a few I think.

I am always cautious to create a new sticky at the top of the page, a whole page of stickies before you get to postings just doesn't seem right. But, I call for a vote to create one that carefully points out the address, methods, safeties and costs of sending a knife in. So, there would be a sticky at top we can refer folks to after we tell them we are glad to hear from them and hope we can be of help in the future.

So, does this seem like a good idea or just more confusion. Your vote says yes or no.

To answer the question I know will come up. Adding other Buck repair persons after we get the factory stuff on there may be a little tricky. We can discuss that later. We may be pushing our limits with this, what do you think.

I think we should call it "Buck Knife Warranty Repair information".

Something like this will save a lot of repetitive answering. If it is called "Buck Knife Warranty Repair Information", Buck is the only place for warranty work. However, there are some non-factory outfits that do good repair work, but as you said, "Put off until tomorrow what you don't want to deal with today."

Do we need an opinion from Buck about this?

If this goes through, there should be mention of the fact that Buck will replace but not repair some of the older folders.

There might be other things to consider, but I am in favor of the general idea.

Yes

I say "Yes" as the question comes up a lot. I have sent in a few and I was always happy with the whole process.

It's a good idea and give it an  but strongly suggest we get Joe Houser's stamp of approval on content.

The problem that I have with stickies is that I believe they should be informational only and not for discussion purposes, yet that seldom appears to be the case.

I don't care for stickies but were sort of here for Buck. I like Tin Sue's suggestion. DM

I think Tin Sue has a good point. Once the initial sticky is written how about locking the thread. Otherwise there will probably be a lot of comments about how happy or unhappy people are.

I think it is a good idea as well and also agree with everyone that it should not be for discussion but only informational. Not sure what would be the best way to implement that.
I also agree that we need Joe Houser's stamp of approval.

I don't spend as much time here as some so my vote might not hold much weight.
However I appreciate you asking & agree with you about having too many stickys.
Maybe one could be removed so the number does not increase.
The info about posting pictures is a lot a places. That might be a good one.

I figured the next step would to contact Joe Houser and see what his take was on this. I had not considered the continued comments and postings in the sticky, both good and bad. Prehaps closing it in the end would make it more like a manual than discussion of opinions. If your happy or unhappy with repairs that is for a regular posting where questions and comments can occur. As it has been in the past.

I realize there are other very well qualified Buck craftsman out there, but was just talking about factory warranty and spa repairs. Basically, the same thing your told when you would contact the factory but have it available so people could get the phone number, email addresses, who to ask for, how to address packages, etc. But, would call on forum members to make suggestions for any tricks or methods they have come up with to make the process easier. I know several people have sent in multiples, in one or two cases several dozen, knives either for warranty work or spa treatment. I think we should discuss spa treatment but be sure to make the difference in the two actions very clear. Lets keep voting and commenting for now, since the thread was just started today.... For myself I may have gone off half cocked, I just read the Buck Home page on warranty repair and how to contact Buck and learned some new things. Such as they have a form you download and fill out to include in your package. Also if knife cannot be repaired you are offered to buy a new knife at 50% the MSRP cost of a current model. Spa treatment is $6.95. Some of you who haven't been to the home page in a while might learn some new stuff like I did........300

The link to buck knives.com is already at the top of the Buck forum and if all else fails there's a phone number for Bucks CS rep. They are very nice folks.

I vote yes with a stipulation that obvious abuse will incur a charge, plus postage.

I think a sticky would be good, but as stated more of an informational thread with no discussion available. But as with most "informational" writings people have to read them first. That will be the tricky part.

I say no... Because they are going to ask anyway... But if you do make a sticky...

I think only 300 should put the info on that thread... We talk about it now on this

thread and 300 can put it all on a Sticky and lock it.... But what do I know... :)

No, I don't like stickys in forums, forums are about live communication where people come to actively engage in conversation.

More than a warranty repair sticky, I think we need a 300 Series data sheet sticky. :p

Maybe make the current Buck Knives sticky at the top of the page in big bold print?
