Vote. Thumb stud or hole?

I think a hole is more versital, it gives more options for opening.

The zip-tie wave thing, for example. Having one on a holed knife will let you open it as if it had a thumbstud, or hole. It lets you wave out the blade, it lets you open it with fingers other than your thumb. Spydie drop.

I enjoy my spydie hole. :)

I prefer thumbstuds, but they have to be well made. Got a Kershaw Vapor and the thumbstud made my thumb sore, so i quit useing it. and i couldn't even make it a flipper :( Too bad 'cause except for the pointy stud it's a great little knife. slimm, fits well in my pocket and my small hand.
 
Since some have already said "neither," I will too.

When you wave, you don't need either :D :D :D
