Vulcan

I received my Vulcan last week and so far I really like this knife. My first impression after opening was "what a cool looking blade". Now I am far past the age of purchasing things based on coolness factor but this blade looks cool. The handle seems solid and the grip secure. Also, love the deep pocket clip, comfortable and light to carry without without showing everyone you have a blade in your pocket.
The deployment is quick and easy, in fact, because of the clip orientation I was able to pull it from my pocket and deploy faster than my Kershaw blur. As for the flipper, I found it mostly useless except for grip purposes when open. I found when using it to open the knife I had a number of false starts.
Anyway, that's my uninformed opinion, this will be my new favorite blade until my next one.

I will be starting a new thread in a few days, on my own experience with my second (non-tanto) Vulcan, but I can tell you all that it is one heck of a knife. As for the 'flipper', a slight wrist flick when you hit the flipper should allow the blade to rocket out, at least mine does.

I've EDC'd mine for the past two years and the only things I have to complain about are as follows: a little bit of the tip sticks out from the liners near the butt end of the knife, so the tip gets snagged and partially deploys the blade when I go to pull it out of my pocket. So far, I've only had this problem with slanted pockets (like on a pair of cargo shorts) and it's not an issue with jean pockets. My second, relatively minor complaint is with the overall feel of the handle. The Zytel feels cheap in hand. G10 would probably be a much better substitute, even if it drives the price up.

Otherwise, I love everything about it. If I'm wearing pants with upright pocets, I can even get it to wave on the draw. It's awesome.
